A beautiful house just north of Lachar Village, situated within a popular grove and surrounded by farmland and woodland. The main house is a restored coaching inn, and the smaller house is a newly built annex. The main house has been recently renovated and restored. It can comfortably sleep up to 8 people. The property is tiled throughout, with new windows, blinds, and window grills and has oil fired central heating and a wood burning stove. The pool has recently been rebuilt to include a shallow/child friendly area within the larger pool. On the ground floor of the main house there is a tradtional Andalucian style entrance hall, shower room with walk in hydro massage shower and separate toilet. The large traditional fully equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar. There is a separate dining room and lounge and also a laundry room. If a booking requires only one of the houses the other will remain empty ensuring sole use of the pool.

Summer 2007 is the first rental season for this villa so prices can be flexible.

Changeover day
We try to be as flexible with possible. Please give as much notice as possible of your requirements. We ask for the property to be vacated by midday on the day of departure unless otherwise arranged.

The main bathroom has a double Jacuzzi bath with water and air massage, separate power shower and double wash basin/sink unit and toilet.
Downstairs the kitchen has gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and a breakfast bar and is fully equipped.
The lounge looks out onto the pool and includes a 3-piece suite and wood burning stove and Sky television.
The utility room has digital washing machine, dryer, ironing facilities, sink and food/drink storage.
The dining room has a large table and chairs and comfortable seating.
There is a toilet on the ground floor and a separate shower.

The 'Annex' property - Casa Anza is a new build with 3 bedrooms and can sleep 5 people.
The ground floor has a door entrance to an open plan kitchen/lounge. The modern kitchen has gas hob, electric oven, extractor, microwave and fridge/freezer and is fully equipped. The lounge window looks out onto the poplar grove. The entrance door looks toward the pool and tiled terrace. The living area has a marble top dining table, sofa, a wood burner and satellite television. A granite breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the lounge.
On the first floor there is a double bedroom with double bed overlooking the woods, 1 bedroom with twin beds and another small single bedroom. All have fitted wardrobes and electric radiators. The bathroom has a bath with shower, vanity unit, heated towel rail and toilet. All windows have blinds and rejas. Ambient summer temperature 22.

 

Notes on accommodation
The property has a highchair, travel cot, steriliser, stairgates and car seats available at request. There are toys suitable for up to 5 years and some outdoor toys.
There is a selection of English books, reference material on the area, DVDs, Sky TV, a music centre and comfortable leather reclining seats with good light for reading.
The main house has central heating.
Outside there is a barbecue, shower and toilet. The pool and patio are well lit with ample shade. The pool is 1.4 metres shallow and 1.8 deep with stone steps into the water. 1 corner has an inbuilt quarter circle pool, 1 metre deep with seating and steps, suitable for children and non-swimmers.
The property is particularly suited for large groups of up to approx. 8 -12 people who can locate in the 2 properties and share the pool and patio area although each house is available to rent seperately. If the large house is booked the smaller will not be occupied.
All guest will recieve a welcome pack on arrival.

Accessibility
10 minutes west of Granada airport, A92, junction 221, 20 minutes from Granada centre, the property is 1 kilometre north of the village over the bridge towards Valderrubio.
Not suitable for the disabled, but recommended for naturists, walkers, cyclists, touring, families/groups and those seeking privacy and peace. Car hire is recommended
Both houses are cool in the height of summer.

Outside
Outside the pool is 1.5 m - 1.8m deep and approx. 5 x 5 metres square (irregular shape) and incorporates a shallow section. Iron gates can be shut to keep small children away from the pool area when required. The patio area is newly tiled, has a BBQ, wall and floodlights, 'Andalucian' style benches, table and sun umbrella, sun loungers and outside toilet/wash basin/shower. Some outdoor toys are available. There is ample car parking space.

Coast/Beach
The Costa Tropical is about an 1 hour's drive. There are a number of resorts and beaches here including Motril, Salobrena and Nerja. The beaches are shingle and sandy most provide water sports.
The Malaga coastline is about 1 hour 20 mins drive away. Torremolinos, Benalmedina, Fengenola all have sandy beaches and plenty of summer activites includng water parks, zoo, crocodile park, cable car rides and family entertainment parks.
Marbella and Puerta Banus are a futher 30 mins drive away.

Golf
The surrounding area has a number of golf courses including the newly opened courses of Santa Clara, Elvira and Armilla in Granada, each some 30 minutes drive away. Other courses can be found in Antequera 40 minutes, Motril and along the Malaga coastline, 60-90 minutes.

Skiing
The Sierra Nevada ski resort of el Pradellano is approx 45 mins drive away. From Dec to April there is skiing and other winter sports available here. Skis etc can be hired from the centre which offers individual and group tuition.

Travel
Granada airport is 10 mins drive from the property. Transport can be arranged. Flights to Granada are available from Nottingham East Midlands, Liverpool, Stansted
Malaga airport is approx 1 hour 20 mins away and flights are available form most airports.
Car hire recommended and can be arranged for you. There are occasional buses from Lachar to Granada.

Distances
Lachar village is a 10 mins walk form the property. Granada city is approx 20 mins by car.
Antequera is 30 mins drive away for shopping, eating, golf, horse riding and culture.
The reservoirs of Iznajar, Bermejales and Cubillas are all within approx 45 mins drive.
Guadix with its cave houses - 45 mins drive.
Alicante & el Cabo de Gato - 2 hours.
Seville - 2 hours.
Cordoba - 1 1/2 hours.
Numerous sierras are accessible.
The mountain villages of Alpujarras - 50 mins.

Further details
The traditional rural vilage of Lachar village has shops (supermarkets, bakers, fish, banks). There are a number of cafe bars and a few places to eat(serving main meals after 9pm). There is a small market on a Friday where you can buy fresh produce and clothes. There is a market in every village at least one day a week. Similarly, each village has its own 3/4 days fiesta in the summer. The area is good for walking and horse riding can be arranged locally.
Granada city has a lot to offer - the Alhambra Palace, the Albayacin, the Hamman Moorish baths where you can soak in hot water in the semi darkness and have a massage, the Science park and Planetarium, cathedral and numerous churches and carmenes (gardens). The Sacromonte, home of flamenco, offers many shows and views of the palaces. The city offers many different types of shops and uncountable places to eat and drink. An open top tourist bus with audio commentary in English (12 Euros for 24 hours, hop on, hop off) is the best way to the city. It leaves from the cathedral every 30 minutes. A micro bus from the Plaza Nueva, one euro, drives up through the tortuously narrow streets of the Albayzin. It is recommended to alight at St. Nicholas Square to take in the wonderful view of the Alhambra before strolling down the cobbled alleys through the Albayzin Moorish quarter with its colourful souks and tea shops. There are markets, including the big flea market on Saturday near the Science Park. The city has a lively nightlife with from discos to concerts at the Manuel de Falla centre. The best experience of course is to simply wander from square to square and people watch.
Near Antequera there is a donkey sanctuary, a flamenco lake, a wild wolf park, the Torcal and the Chorro areas of natural beauty.

Booking notes
10% deposit is required at the time of booking with the remaining payment to be made 4 weeks prior to arrival. Alternative arrangements/discounts can be made for late bookings. There is a winter fuel supplement for central heating and logs for the burners of £30 for the large house and £20 for the annex.
For booking of 2 weeks or more the house will be cleaned and linen changed on a weekly basis included in the price. Extra cleaning can be arranged at a small fee if required.
