Apart from its ideal location, your first thoughts when you enter the house are likely to be surprise when you see what is hidden behind the front door. The entrance corridor turns a 90 degree bend into the courtyard (a traditional Moorish feature to hide from prying eyes) which acts as the heart of the house. Huge wooden doors lead off to bedrooms, whilst the old mule quarters have been converted into a modern bathroom with twin sinks and underfloor heating. Stairs wind up inside the courtyard to the modern kitchen and large airy sitting room with 12 foot high beamed ceilings and a wood burning stove for winter nights. Downstairs in the courtyard is also a large stove which takes the winter night chill off the whole house. More stairs lead you to the roof terrace with stunning views, a built-in barbecue area, proper seating and a second bathroom. We know that you are here to visit Arcos, but staying here will make your stay truly unforgettable.

Notes on accommodation
Many more pictures of the property are available online, email the owner for the link. Arcos is probably not an ideal location for very young children or the elderly or disabled due to the number of steep hills and stepped alleyways.
Outside
Large private roof terrace with great views over the lake and countryside to the mountains of Grazalema. Purpose built for sunbathing, sundowners and evening barbecues.
Coast/Beach
The Costa de la Luz is only 30 minutes away. From Tarifa to Cadiz and beyond, the wide white sand beaches, backed in the most part by countryside and accessible via small country lanes are undoubtedly one of Spain's best kept secrets. As well as sunbathing, the beaches are used extensively for kite surfing and horseriding.
Golf
The nearest course is the newly-opened, world-class Arcos Gardens, which is less than 5 minutes away. The course was designed and built by Landmark, and is set on rolling hills amongst ancient olive groves. The course also features Europe's largest practice range.
Special interest holidays
One of the reasons we bought the property is for the outdoor sports available in the area. Fantastic paragliding, mountain biking, sailing, hiking and horseriding are all nearby and Europes best kitesurfing is on the Atlantic coast, 30 minutes from Arcos. If you want to do any outdoor sports during your stay let us know in advance as we can advise you accordingly.
Travel
The closest airport to Arcos is at Jerez, from where Arcos is clearly signposted (though drive slowly and follow all signposts to avoid ending up on the motorway to Cadiz). Other nearby airports are at Seville and Gibraltar, both about 75 minutes away. Malaga is also an easy drive which takes about 2 hours.
Distances
Jerez de la Frontera (the nearest large town) is 30kms and 25 minutes away. Cadiz and the Costa de la Luz are 60kms and 30 minutes. Seville is 90kms and 1 hour. The mountains of Grazalema are 25kms and 20 minutes away. All times are by private car, which you will need to hire if you are planning on exploring the area.
Booking notes
Booking fee minus 50 euros is payable via paypal or cheque when booking, the balance is payable to our agent on arrival. Our agent is an English guy who lives 200 metres down the road from the house, so is generally available should you need any information during your stay.
Guest comments
'We visited Arcos 25 years ago when we were first married, and coming back here again is like stepping back in time. There's a few more cars of course but the special charm of the town remains. And having our own private roof terrace in the heart of the town made our stay extra special.' Terry and Belinda, South London.
'We normally stay in hotels when we travel but we are so glad we tried something different in Arcos. Staying in a traditional house in the old town gave us a real insight into what it must be like to live somewhere like this.' Mike and Sue, Brighton.
'What a lovely house! Having breakfast in the courtyard before setting off for the day we felt like we had been transported to a different time, and enjoying a glass of wine on the roof terrace whilst watching the mountains turn pink with the setting sun was something we'll never forget.' Bill and Shirley, Manchester.
