Embedded in the foothills of the Pyrenees mountains Ca la Daina is a beautiful and lovingly restored 16th house over 5 floors with beams and log fires, cosy, but also spacious, sleeping up to 16 people. Fabulous views overlooking gorges and mountains. Ideal for 2 or 3 families or groups of friends. Our home is situated in the medieval village of Camarasa with 600 inhabitants, Catalan people are very welcoming and they go out of there way to help and offer advice and there is a lovely friendly atmosphere. Take your time to stop and chat. There are two bars and a fabulous bakery which sell croissants to die for! Open every morning and evening. There is a well stocked village store and supermarkets are only 10 minutes away in the medieval town of Balaguer. Every Saturday there is a market in the main plaza of Balaguer worth visiting for cheeses and vegetables and a coffee at Gloria’s, our favourite cafe in town... "A place to be and rejuvenate will definitely return we loved it"

Living Rooms: Dining Living room is a large space with comfortable sofas facing a wood burning hearth anda dining area with rustic furniture of pine and oak seating up to 16. A perfect place for large meals and celebrations and chatting around roaring fire.
Other: At the top of the house is an attic/group/terrace room with tiled floor and woden beams, this is a lovely space for activities, yoga and art or for just for chilling out in, it opens out on to the roof terrace. It has two fold out double futon sofa beds.

The house is centrally heated and there is constant hot water. There are altogether 8 bathroom/shower rooms. There are fans in most bedrooms to keep cool in the hot months.

Outside
There is a lovely roof terrace at the top of the house and kitchen in the attic so meals can be cooked and eaten there. Fabulous views from there over the village to the river and mountains. There is stunning large swimming pool 2 mins from the house 25m by 13m terracotta terrace and views all around. A wonderful place to relax and sunbathe! You can have fun at the nearby reservoirs of Camarasa kayaks/canoes/pedaloes, swimming and picnicing or just relaxing in the sun. There is biking and rafting for hire. If you feel lazy you can take the local train up through the gorge alongside the lake and into the mountains. From the door of the house you can walk for hours along mountain tracks to hidden hermitages, caves and ancient deserted villages. A hour and a half away you can reach the high Pyrenees with panoramic vistas you will not be disappointed!

Coast/Beach
An hour and a half takes you to the Costa Brava a beautiful coastline with hidden coves and fabulous swimming and snorkelling. Perfect for walking, swimming, sunbathing and relaxing. There are lovely litle places to stay although its very busy in high season.

Skiing
Two lovely ski resorts are an hour and a quarter drive away each with 25 to 30 runs very friendly and everything to hire on site.

Travel
In the Pre-Pyrenees, 12 km from Balaguer.
Distances to the main cities: Balaguer 12km. Lleida 42km. Barcelona 153km. Madrid 507km.

How to get here?
By air - Camarasa is roughly one and a half hour’s drive from Barcelona airport (Easyjet, BA, Iberia), Reus/Tarragona (Ryanair) and Zaragoza (Ryanair).
By train - fast trains Euro star from St Pancras change at Paris Nord and then direct to Barcelona aprox 7/8 hours.

Further details
Camarasa has a very well stocked local store with lots of home grown produce there is also a bakers, butchers and chemist.

Big supermarkets are only 10 minutes away in the nearby town of Balaguer. In Balaguer there are also lots of shops and cafes and one excellent resturant and several tapas bars. There is a local market there every saturday.

'WE found this a place of healing and rejuvenation, late breakfasts of croissants and coffee on the roof terrace looking out over rivers and craggy mountains, reading and lazing, the hours just melted away and then lazily down to the pool lots of cool refreshing swimming and lounging and sunbathing, back early evening for sangria on the roof terrace and watching the swifts dipping and diving and the penguins making nests on the roof of the Byzantine church, heaven!.....'
