Located in mature landscaped grounds Penyagolosa is in a quiet area yet 5 minutes walk from the centre of Calella de Palafrugell, which is picturesque and unspoilt, with an excellent variety of restaurants, bars, shops and seven pretty coves to suit all ages. The Penyagolosa apartments contain a 25m swimming pool with paved sun-terrace, children’s pool, play area and tennis court surrounded by well maintained secure gardens with concierge attending. There is an allocated car port. Our ground floor apartment has a living room with French doors leading to a private patio garden with gate. There are 2 twin bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen with utility gallery. The bathroom contains a bath with shower over. The nearby town of Palafrugell provides a daily market, lovely square for meeting, drinks, watching the local ‘sardanas’ dancing - very relaxing. There are 3 very fine golf courses within 30 minutes drive. Spectacular walks, water sports and diving.

Changeover day
Changeover day is Saturday. There is a possibility of flexibility in low season. Guests are requested to depart by 10am (unless otherwise agreed). In order to allow for cleaning the apartment will be made available for arrival at 4.30p.m.

Linen included: top and bottom sheets, pillows and cases, tea towels, bath mat, hand towel and bath towel for each client (not beach towels). Start and end clean, other times may be possible (extra charge). Linen weekly. |
Notes on accommodation
The accommodation has room fans, also fan heaters for out of season heating. Extra blankets are available.
Cots and highchairs can be arranged.
In the apartment there is an information brochure with recommended restaurants that we or other clients have visited to suit all budgets. There is a smoke alarm and fire blanket in the apartment, as well as a first aid box.
Outside
This is a ground floor apartment with patio garden with gate, so very suitable for children. Patio is behind apartment so provides a lovely place to sunbathe or read. Tennis games are booked at the concierge's office and you bring your own rackets. Allocated covered car port. Set in very well maintained mature grounds, the shared pool is 25x12m with paved sun-terrace, rarely over busy. The attractive patio garden is a great place to eat outside or relax away from the pool. There are sun loungers, table and chairs, parasol and a gate, as well as pretty plants and pots. There is a tennis court next to the pool, surrounded by trees to provide some shade while watching the play. There is a small play area for younger children as well as a small pool for toddlers.
Coast/Beach
Water sports are available in Calella and Llafranc. The 7 different coves and inlets of Calella (some with lifeguards and first aid tents) are great for children to explore with buckets and spades, collecting shells, climbing rocks etc and some of the beaches have bars on the beach which are open daytime and evening. Water is clean, safe and ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The rugged coastline around Calella is spectacular and there are lovely walks. Some beaches have a lot of steps down.
Golf
Golf World Magazine selected 3 Catalan golf courses to be in their top 100 out of 2,600 courses in Europe. Many high quality tournaments are now played here. Club Golf de Pals, is one of them. This picturesque tree lined course with plenty of water creates a challenge for the experienced player whilst offering extremely pleasurable golf for the high handicap player. Club Golf Emporda has nine wide open link style holes and 18 narrow fairways winding their way through impressive pine trees. It is a beautifully manicured course with 9 new holes recently added. Golf Serres de pals is a new course which is located between Toroella de Montgri. Golf p&p Gualta is a short course which consists of 18 par 3 holes, up to 116m and is very picturesque. Gualta is ideal for new golfers, senior and junior players, 18 holes takes a little over 2 hours. All within easy drive. Food and Drink: Supermarket Grau Palafrugell, largest wine emporium in Spain, a joy for the wine-lover. Market in Palafrugell daily fresh fish and fruit/veg, on Sundays: much larger market with clothes, leather, country, stall-holders (until 1pm). Lovely patisserie ‘Serra’ in Palafrugell main square, with delicatessens and wines. El Buli restaurant, voted best restaurant in the world, is in Roses.
Travel
Gerona 45 min drive. Barcelona 90 mins drive on excellent motorway route from Barcelona to French Border. A7 approx 90 mins from French border. A car is highly recommended to explore this very picturesque area as there is so much to see and do. There is regular bus and train services for those unable to take a car. A coach service operates from Palafrugell.
Distances
The town centre of Calella is 5 min walk. Palafrugell is 2 miles. There is a regular bus service. The nearest train station is Flaca between La Bisbal and Gerona. It is a 15 min walk to Llafranc. Gerona is less than an hour and is well worth exploring, magnificent cathedral and historic old town. It is the provincial capital. Figueras, birthplace of Dali and the Dali museum is 50 mins drive. Playa D'aro which has a great family water park is less than 30 mins away.
Further details
There are a number of cash machines in Calella town centre along with several small supermarkets. On the way to the beach, near Port Pelegri is a bigger supermarket which is open all day in peak months. Shops usually close during the seista period 1pm - 5pm then stay open during the evening. There is a very good tourist information centre in Calella near Port Bo, where it is possible to make reservations for restaurants, theatre tickets for music festivals, concerts etc and arrange taxis if required.
Booking notes
Clients must arrange their own flights, transfers, car hire etc. Prices are inclusive of gas, water, electricity and cleaning. Basic laundry is provided, excluding beach towels. One third deposit with booking, remainder to be paid 6 weeks prior to departure. Keys sent by owner before departure, with all relevant details. We request clients to replace items accidentally broken during their stay where possible or pay for replacement. Please telephone or e-mail to check availability.
