This lovely house is situated in a quiet complex with beautiful views, overlooking the horse-shoe shaped bay from which La Herradura gets its name. Media Luna is well-equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge-freezer, microwave, oven and hob and is beautifully furnished and decorated. The property is air-conditioned/centrally heated. It has a private terrace facing the bay with tables/chairs for al fresco eating. A 5-10 minute walk takes you down to the beach, where there is plenty of free parking, should you prefer to drive and take chairs, etc. The complex has extensive garden areas and an excellent pool with showers and changing rooms, a bar and meal service (nominal charge for use of the pool). There are tennis courts and a new gymnasium. La Herradura is an unspoilt Spanish village with shops, bars and excellent restaurants, water sports and parking. Easily reached by car are the beautiful tourist attractions of Granada, the Alhambra Palace and the Sierra Nevada.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. 20% discount for firm bookings of 3 weeks or more. 10% discount for bookings 1 month or less before holiday.
Changeover day
Saturday is the preferred changeover day but I am flexible as I know flights can be much better in the week. Officially departure should be by 10.00am and arrival after 2.00pm.

Notes on accommodation
Suitable for all the family - quiet and tranquil location with great view of the sea and every home comfort, but also near the pool and tennis courts. The shops, bars and restaurants are mainly facing the sea along to the village and easily accessible, either by walking or by car to take beach chairs, etc.
Accessibility
Whilst there is a ramp up to the property, there are steps. There is a disabled person next door and she manages with help but it is not easy for older disabled people. Once inside the property, however, there is a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor.
Outside
There is a swimming pool a couple of minutes walk away with toilet, showers, changing rooms, a bar and snack bar and well cared for grounds for sunbathing (a small charge is made for sunbathing or swimming). There are 2 tables and 6 chairs for use on the patio. There is a storage cupboard there with beach chairs, surf board, wind breakers, etc.
Coast/Beach
The beach is of grey sand with pebbles. It is cleaned and unspoilt. There is car parking on the beach all the way along for free. Across the road there are several cafes and bars. The beach is approximately a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute drive.
Golf
There are approximately 5 courses nearby but all a drive away of 4 - 5 miles.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada is approx 1 hour away and has skiing in the Winter. It is also very beautiful just to visit. The Alhambra is next to Granada town and both are definitely worth visiting. They are only approx 3/4 hr away from the house.
Travel
Car hire is essential. From Malaga it now takes only three-quarters of an hour and from Granada Airport about 1 hour.
Distances
La Herradura is opposite the beach and about a a 20 minute walk to the centre but only takes 5 minutes by car. Almunecar is the largest town in the area and is 5 miles away. The whole of Andalusia is easily reached with its ancient culture, flamenco and pretty villages, such as Frigliana and Salobrena.
Further details
There are several small supermarkets in the village, banks shops and restaurants. Granada, with the Alhambra and its great history, is near as is the Sierra Nevada with its beautiful mountains and Winter sports. The lovely scenery of Andalusia is easily accessible for those who like to explore, either by walking or by car. There are weekly markets in most of the local towns and a daily fresh food market in the village for meat, fish and vegetable. There are many good car-hire firms to choose from and cars can usually be picked up from and returned to the airports at any time.
Booking notes
On booking a 25% deposit is required. The balance is due 1 month before travelling. I am quite flexible for travelling days and times in and out, although if another party is due that day then you must leave by 10.00am to allow time for the cleaners. Also, if people have left that day you cannot go in until 2.00pm. However, you can still leave your cases and go and look round until then - the weather is usually lovely and the bars all open over lunchtime.
