Situated in the pretty resort of Playa Velilla, about 2½ km from the centre of Almunecar. The villa is perfectly located in a quiet area set in it's own grounds over 2 levels. Unusual for a private villa there is excellent easy access to the beach, bars and restaurants about 150 metres away. It is very comfortable and well furnished, with light and spacious accommodation. Outside there is a large terrace, part of which is under cover offering shade when eating alfresco. The terrace is equipped with table, chairs and sun lounges. The pool is of a good size and has a shower and BBQ area. There is a second lower garden area which is laid to lawn and shaded by cyprus trees. There is one double, two twin and one triple bedroom. The comfortable lounge has an open log fire, satellite television and a DVD. From the lounge, large patio doors lead out onto the covered terrace. There is a private garage.

Changeover day
Preferred changeover day is Saturday, arrival after 4pm departure by 11am. But we are flexible and will do our best to meet your requirements.

Property cleaned before your arrival with towels and bed linen provided. A clean supply of towels and linen are provided weekly. Weekly gardener who also attends to the pool. |
Notes on accommodation
The villa is located on a quite urbanisation and although the drive to the villa is up a step slope, pedestrian access via a private back gate gives a unique short cut to the beach and resort. Please note that the villa is set over two floors and that there are stairs down to the bedrooms, there is not a stairgate. A cot is available so please let us know when booking if you require it so we can have it ready for you on arrival. (The cot is a Spanish travel cot and is paid for in resort). We provide beach towels, and there is also an assortment of pool and water toys which you are welcome to use.
Accessibility
There is a double bedroom and bathroom on the level of the kitchen, gardens and pools. However there are steps down to the property from the garage and access road. As accessing the villa and the back gate requires going down a few steps, the villa may not be suitable for disabled or infirm people. Please note that the villa is set over two floors and that there are stairs down to the bedrooms, there is not a stairgate.
Outside
Large terrace with seaviews. Lower shaded garden and terrace. Garden furniture, sun-loungers and barbeque on the upper terrace. Good sized private swimming pool. The swimming pool does not have a guard and therefore it is advised that non-swimmers and children only use the pool when supervised. The pool is not heated.
Coast/Beach
The beach of Velilla is just approx. 150 metres and is accessed via a private back gate and down a slight slope. The beaches of Tesorillo and Pozuelo are a 10 minute walk along an attractive promenade. There a variety of bars and restaurants along the esplanade.
Travel
Malaga airport is 45 minutes away and Granada airport is about 1 hour away. Granada airport is much smaller and quieter than Malaga and does make arriving and departure easier. As yet there is no duty free shop at Granada. The road to Malaga is a newly built dual carriage way motorway and the road to Granada is also mostly dual carriage way.
Distances
Almunecar is the local town and is about 2.5 kms from the villa. It is a pleasant easy walk into the town along the promenade, here you will find local shops, larger supermarkets, banks, bars and restaurants. Motril (15kms from the villa) is a larger shopping town.
Further details
From the old fishing village days of Laurie Lee, Almunecar has grown into an attractive town full of true Spanish flavour. The maze of narrow streets hosts a fusion of bars, restaurants and shops, where you can take a break in one of the many squares and enjoy the custom of free tapas served with drinks. Granada, is the capital of the province, and the famous Alhambra is an absolute must to see. In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Los Alpujarras are well worth a visit and also offer good walking routes. Skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains (winter months).
