Casa Alegria is an idyllic rural villa nestling in beautiful olive groves in the stunning Valle del Sol, surrounded by undulating countryside and magnificent panoramic views. Situated between two of Andalucia's most breathtaking Natural Parks; El Chorro, with its famous gorge and turquoise blue lakes at Ardales and El Torcal, site of some of the oldest and most striking rock formations in the world! Casa Alegria is fast becoming a popular choice as 'the perfect holiday retreat'... offering a totally private complex and surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery to be found anywhere in Spain. The wonderful cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada are all within a couple of hours drive.In the local village of Abdalajis, the Paragliding School offers amazing tandem flights. At the Activity Centre, guided climbing and walking trips are available to suit everyone! In all, Casa Alegria provides the perfect holiday location from which to enjoy all that Inland Andalucia has to offer.

Notes on prices
Please note: Prices above show amount for 7 nights for 2 guests. For holidays of 7 nights for 3-4 please add £25/£50 per week, depending on season. Payment by electronic transfer. Medium/low season mini breaks are sometimes available, please contact us for details and current special offers. Discounts on long winter lets. Payment: A 25% deposit is required on booking which is non refundable. Balance plus security deposit of £100 is due 8 weeks prior to holiday.

Changeover day
Flexible, but in July and August Saturday/Sunday is preferred. Guests are asked to arrive after 2.30pm and vacate the villa by 10.30 am. Arrival and departure times flexible depending on other bookings. Please ask.

Living Rooms: Living room/diner has flatscreen television with English satellite TV, DVD player, Ipod dock. Large sofa and armchair, dining table and 4 chairs and woodburning stove
Cleaning/towels/

All bed linen and towels (including pool towels) provided and changed weekly on request. The villa is cleaned to a high standard for your arrival. No extra charge for cleaning.

 

Notes on accommodation
All electricity and gas for cooking (including barbecue) is included. Provision of cot is available at no extra cost for baby or small child. Coffee, teabags, milk and sugar are provided for your arrival. We have filtered drinking water on tap. For a small extra cost, we are happy to do a larger supermarket shop for you if you would like to arrive to a full fridge... just e-mail us your list two weeks before your holiday! All rooms have either free standing or ceiling fans. Heating is by wood burner and free standing gas burner. Winter lets can purchase logs on site. We hope to provide you with everything you need for a fabulous holiday.

Outside
The large, mosaic-tiled 10x5m. pool has a graduated depth of 1m to 2.5m. The pool and pool terrace are not overlooked and have sunloungers and parasols. The path to the pool from the villa terrace has a secure and lockable gate.
The villa has a large terracotta tiled terrace with a jasmine-covered pergola at one end and is set in a mature garden with fruit trees and flowering shrubs. There is a large gas barbecue and table and chairs for alfresco eating.

Coast/Beach
The beautiful lakes at Ardales, just 30 minutes away, offer fabulous freshwater swimming, fishing and watersports in turquoise waters...surrounded by pinewoods and soaring eagles! The many popular beaches along the coast are only an hour away by car.

Golf
Hotel Antequera Golf with it's fabulous 18 hole course, bar, restaurant and friendly atmosphere, is about 30 minutes away. It has very reasonable green fees and club hire with resident pros for lessons to cater to players of all levels. It's sister venue, the recently converted 16th century convent Hotel la Magdalena boasts international cuisine along with beautifully restored grounds and interiors....definitely worth a visit!

Skiing
Skiing in the Sierra Nevada is approximately 2 hours away.

Special interest holidays
The areas of El Chorro and Abdalajis are renowned as premier locations for all things extreme including off road/mountain biking, excellent climbing and for the brave, paragliding!. In the local village, Abdalajis, there is a newly opened Activity Centre, where you can learn to paraglide solo, or simply take to the air with one of their breathtaking tandem flights. They will organise guided climbing and walking trips for all levels novices very welcome! There are local horse riding centres with hacking available over the most wonderful countryside. At Ardales lakes there are kayaks, boats and pedalos for hire. We can arrange mountain bike hire and exhilarating bike trekking experiences with professional guides. Should you want to take things at a more leisurely pace there are endless beautiful walks with stunning landscape views surrounding the villa, on which you are able to appreciate our varied flora and fauna.

Travel
The villa is easily accessible from both Malaga Airport (1 hour) and Granada Airport (1hr 20m). Road links are good from both airports and we will be happy to give you comprehensive directions door to door! Prebooking your car hire is advisable, with many companies based at Malaga airport offering competitive rates.

Distances
The village of Valle de Abdalajis is 5kms away, 15 minutes by car, along a combination of tarmac and a good unmade road. The wonderful cities of Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Ronda are all easily accessible by road. A car is essential for you to fully appreciate this beautiful region. Please note that at certain times during Autumn and Winter (depending on rainfall), a 4 x 4 may be necessary to negotiate the unmade road - please check beforehand for conditions.

Further details
The lovely village of Abdalajis has a supermarket, local butcher, fishmonger, fruiterers, bakers, banks, restaurants and bars. A weekly market takes place every Thursday in the town square. With the many fiestas and ferias celebrated in the surrounding villages throughout the year the area has something to offer everyone! The Valley of Abdalajis is ideal for the sport of hang-gliding, to such an extent that the area is known as the capital of this sport. With excellent weather all the year around and ideal geographical conditions for flying, many people come here to practice this and other sports associated with free-flight. Trekking, cycling and climbing are also popular sports here too, with more than 75 climbing routes in the Sierra de Abdalajís, varying in difficulty from III to 6b+. With three trekking routes and three mountain-bike lanes, the Valle de Abdalajis is one of the most ideal places for sportspeople to spend a holiday.

About the owner
For most of the year we live by the sea on the south coast of England. We've both been coming to Spain since we were children and have family and friends in Andalucia. With retirement in sight we'd been looking for our own rural retreat for about 5 years and knew we had found it when we first came to Casa Alegria.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
Casa Alegria is situated in an olive grove 'far from the madding crowd' but less than an hour from the coast and from Malaga airport. The pretty town of Valle de Abdalajis is about 15 minutes away, with the larger towns of Villanueva de la Concepcion and Almogia within less half an hour and the historic town of Antequera, with its castle and full range of shops and restaurants about 40 minutes away. Granada, Cordoba and Seville are all easy day trips.

We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and very near to El Chorro and the Ardales lakes with climbing and water sports readily available. If you are looking for peace and quiet then just relax by the pool and while away the day.
