The Sculptor's House is one of the oldest houses in the village and was formerly used as a sculptor's studio, due to its high ceilings and wealth of light. There is a flower filled paved garden with swimming pool and shaded dining area with steps leading up to a charming south-facing roof terrace with panoramic views down to the Mediterranean with North Africa beyond. The house next door is also available for rental. This too has its own privatge pool. Should you be interested in renting both properties, they both have access gates leading on to the bottom garden of the owner's home. This house has central heating, WiFi and is available for long winter months rental from November to May.

Notes on accommodation
For families with small children there is a high chair, cot and playpen available on request. Baby-sitting can be arranged.
There are child gates on the stairs and the door to the pool area, plus decorative Spanish railings on all windows. The roof terrace has safety railings and is approached via a lockable gate.
Accessibility
This house is not wheel chair friendly as it has to many steps.
Outside
There is a pretty paved garden with raised flowerbeds with a swimming pool 7m x 5m. There is shaded dining area and BBQ with steps leading to the south-facing roof terrace. There is an outside cloakroom for use by the pool.
Coast/Beach
35 minutes Mediterranean, Sabanillas very clean beach with showers and beach-side cafes and restaurants. Ideal for families with children. 1 - 1.5 hour Atlantic. Stunning beaches of Tarifa with white sand and large sand dunes - windsurfing mecca for all ages. Riding information: La Almuna (10 minutes drive from Gaucin), Diana Paget has a farm where you can hire horses for excursions through orchard groves to campo and beyond. Prices on request. Golf
Valderama (Sotogrande) - 40 minutes drive
Guadalmina (San Pedro del Alcantara) - 45 minutes drive
There are other golf courses situated on the coast around Estepona which is also 40 minutes drive.
Skiing
There is a direct train from Gaucin Estacion to Granada approx. 3.5 hrs where you can get a coach to the Sierra Nevada ski resort which takes about 35 minutes. Alternatively you can take the motorway to Malaga (1.5 hrs)and then inland from there to Granada which takes another 1.5hrs.

Rock Climbing, we suggest that rock climbing months are best during the winter.Organic food, PuraVida is a large organic food shop in the village that is located on the same street. There is a monthly Organic food market as well, where all the local organic farmers come and sell their food.

Gaucin is a large, thriving village with 6 restaurants and many tapas bars. There's an indoor market, many small shops, chemist with trained homeopath and herbalist, 2 banks with cash machines, medical centre providing 24 hr shared cover with neighbouring village. Large municipal outside pool with restaurant and tennis courts, plus horse riding available locally. There are lots of places to visit nearby; Ronda with Spain's oldest bullring, famous Neolithic caves in Montejaque. For surfers, 1 hr drive to Atlantic beaches at Tarifa.

A deposit of 50% is required on booking the property, the balance to be paid 6 weeks before arrival.
NB. Cancellations: the property will be re-advertised as a special offer on Owners Direct web site and, if a booking is taken up, the deposit will be refunded. Should you cancel after paying the balance, the same procedure will be taken and if the advert is successful the full amount will be refunded. We recommend that you take out travel insurance to avoid this happening.

Lucinda has lived in Spain on and off for 30 years and know about everything you might need to know on holiday or as a resident as she raised her two sons in Spain and knows what makes a good holiday and comfortable living accommodations for all the family.
