Our villa is located on the cliff-top overlooking the marina and beach at Calafat, a small development of mainly detached houses about 5 kilometres from the pretty fishing village of L'Ametlla de Mar. In Calafat there is a supermarket as well as several restaurants/bars within 10 minute's walk of the house. L'Ametlla de Mar has all the local amenities you could want. The historic city of Tarragona is 25 miles away as is the Portaventura theme park.

Notes on accommodation
Very suitable for families. Safe for small children, with enclosed garden. Walking distance of safe, sandy beach.

The beach is immediately below the house - about 5 minutes walk through the marina.
The nearest beach is at one end of the marina - this is sheltered by a breakwater and is very safe.

Owner profile
About the owner
We have owned Villa Ana since 2003 and have let it for holidays for the last 5 years. We have now both retired. I was a secondary teacher of French and Spanish while Peter was an accountant. Peter spends his time painting while now I aim to teach myself Catalan and spend more time in my garden.
We love Cataluña and also have an apartment in the lovely village of L'Ametlla de Mar which we use when we have guests in the villa.
We have three grown up children who also enjoy coming to Spain with their friends.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We had intended to buy a property in Spain when we both retired. However a serious illness in 1998 made us realise that life was for living now so we bought our apartment in L'Ametlla de Mar, after a holiday looking at virtually every village from Valencia northwards. This was at Easter in the year 2000. The village is easily accessible by train and has all amenities as well as being an attractive working fishing village.
We bought the house in Calafat (just along the coast from L'Ametlla) because I missed my garden when we stayed in Spain. I am trying to get to grips with the problems of growing plants in a hot climate! If you over water plants grow really fast (we constantly have to cut the hedges).

Unique benefits of the property
The villa has stunning views. You wake in the morning with a view of the Mediterranean. The sea changes all the time - so the colours are constantly changing.
We have a lovely garden with its own pool and barbecue. We are directly above a safe beach which is about five minutes walk away at one end of the marina. It is very convenient for shops, restaurants and cafes.
The station at L'Ametlla is five miles away. There are trains to Barcelona, Portaventura and to Tarragona. The mountains and countryside behind the villa are also very pretty and worth exploring.
