A beautifully maintained 1 bedroom, spacious, modern apartment in the Spanish holiday town of Garrucha. Located just 2 miles approx from Mojacar one way, and 1 mile to Vera Playa the other. It comes with an underground secure garage space and is a 2 minute walk to the beach, restaurants and shops and Garrucha's wonderful promenade. Close to golf courses, a water park and a go-car track to name a few.

Notes on prices
Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Extra days will be charged accordingly. Past guests receive a 10% reduction on the above prices. Prices will remain the same for 2009!!!!

Changeover day
We are totally flexible on arrival dates.
Long-term lets considered - Garrucha is a great location to base yourselves in so you can explore Almeria if you are considering buying in the Region

Accommodation

 

Notes on accommodation
There are 2 small fan assisted heaters for chilly nights during winter and the 2 large ceiling fans more than cope with the heat. The sofa bed will sleep 1 adult/child comfortably, though we would point out that as the apartment has patio doors leading to the balcony, small children will need to be watched carefully. The balcony sides are high but we feel better for pointing this out to you. The apartment is in a secure block with entry phone at the front entrance and a locked entry door to our side where the lift is located.
Plenty of CDs, DVDs, videos, games to make you feel at home should you need to relax indoors for a few hours. A Spanish hairdryer is available for guests use.
Please note, smoking is not permitted inside the apartment at all but you can smoke outside on the balcony where an ashtray is provided.

Accessibility
The actual apartment is not adapted for wheelchair users, though some people with mobility problems may be able to use it as we have a lift. We suggest you call and chat first before booking.

Outside
The lounge has patio doors leading to a balcony where you can sit and read and have a glass of wine or watch the world go by in the street opposite. You can see the sea from the right of the balcony.
Washing can be hung out here on the line or the on the clothes-horse.
Smokers can light up here is they wish as smoking is not allowed inside the apartment at all.

Coast/Beach
Garrucha's Blue Flag beach is literally 2 mins walk down our street, where golden sand and a crystal clear sea awaits you. The beach is cleaned daily and offers showers and toilets for your convenience. Palms trees and break waters make this a lovely spot to relax and watch the boats go by. Garrucha has a working port with a fishing fleet as well as a marina which you can use/walk round. Boat trips are also available here. The beaches from Vera Playa, Garrucha and Mojacar stretch for miles.

Golf
Garrucha now has several top quality golf courses nearby. Valle del Este, an 18-hole PGA golf course, has been carefully designed along the lines of the courses in the American desert of Arizona and California paying careful attention to every detail and integrating the course into the surrounding landscape to combine holes that represent a real challenge to the player. Undoubtedly this has been designed to play host to Championship events. The views are stunning but don’t let them affect your concentration as very few wayward shots are forgiven. It has its own beach club, restaurant, bar and pool, which is situated directly on the unspoilt Vera Beach. Desert Springs, the PGA overseas home, designed by successful Walker Cup captain, Peter McEvoy, is the only desert course in Europe, located between Villaricos and Cuaves de Almanzora. One is either on lush fairway or chipping back into position from the rugged desert terrain. Popular Marina Golf is 5 mins drive away.

Special interest holidays
Scuba diving is available in Mojacar as well as a riding school.

Travel
Car hire not essential as buses and taxis serves the area, but we recommend a car to see Almeria properly. Almeria airport is 45 minutes away, with Murcia & Alicante approx 2 hours. Easyjet offers transfers from Almeria. Pick up from airport can be arranged subject to availability.

Distances
Mojacar is 5 mins drive, Mojaca Peublo is approx 10-15 mins away. Vera Playa can be reached by following the promenande or if you prefer is also 5 mins max. Vera Town is 5 mins drive away. Turre is 10-15 mins drive. The capital, Almeria is 45 minutes, Albox is 20-25 mins drive. Various white villages are dotted around and you can reach Carboneras by a beautiful coastal drive approx 20-25 mins away. Aguilas,also reached via a beautiful coastal drive in the other direction is 30 mins approx.

Further details
Unlike the main tourist area of Mojacar, Garrucha gives you the real feel of the Andalusian way of life. Garrucha has a working fishing fleet & port, where fishing boats go out daily and the local restaurents still buy their fish. You really are in Spain mixing with the locals, tasting fresh fish tapas along the port, shopping with the locals in the huge weekly markets, eating in traditional Spanish restaurants. This is an area where you will still get to practise your Spanish. However, should you wish to be amongst a more English crowd, Mojacar beach is just 5 mins drive away, so you have the best of both worlds. 'The hustle and bustle when you want it' and the escape to the peace and quiet when you don't. There are many restaurants of every nationality thinkable, bars, snooker bar, live music restaurants. To work off some of that food, water sports facilities, paragliding, aquapark, karting, scuba diving, and tennis are all available in this lovely area. Mojacar Peublo is a quaint Moorish village, with cobbled streets and white washed houses with spectacular views, this is about 15 mins drive away. About 5 mins drive from the apartment is the Aquapark, brilliant for the children of any ages. For the cowboy buffs about 45 mins away is the Mini Hollywood Theme Park, a wild west town is recreated with shows, cowboy museum, restaurants, a zoo with an array of animals. This is where A Fistful of Dollars was filmed along with other famous westerns. Close by at Vera Town is the Vera Bull Ring, this is a historical bull fighting ring, you will have a guided tour by an ex-matador, who revels in his description of this event. There are still bull fights held here today. Around 2 hours away after a picturesque ride, is the city of Granada where you can marvel at the world famous Alhambra Palace, and enjoy the Moorish city itself. The shopping here is fabulous especially if you like shoes! Skiing on the Sierra Nevada slopes is here too.

Booking notes
25% non-refundable deposit is required and the balance is payable 6 weeks before departure.
A returnable deposit of £100 must be paid with the balance prior to arrival date. This will be returned within 10 working days once you have left. Thankfully, we have never had to keep this.
