The whitewashed town of Salobreña is built on a huge rock erupting from a lush tropical plain and capped with a 10th century Moorish castle overlooking the Mediterranean with the stunning Sierra Nevada as its backdrop. Located just 1 hour from Malaga and 45 minutes from Granada this is an ideal base to explore southern Spain. Where else can you ski in the morning and then catch the sun on a Mediterranean beach in the afternoon enjoying free tapas? The ‘contemporustic’ accommodation comprises a well equipped kitchen, a comfortable living room with satellite television, an attractive shower room and an inviting bedroom. Located halfway up the old town there are bars and restaurants within a couple of minutes walk of the apartment and the shops and supermarkets of the town centre are also a short walk away. There is good road access for those hiring a car and an excellent network of local transport for those who do not.

Notes on prices
Prices are for 1-2 person(s) per week in UK pounds sterling. An additional £25/week will be charged for 3-4 persons. Payment in Euros and via PayPal accepted (additional administration fee may be charged).

Changeover day
We attempt to be as flexible as possible regarding changeover days. The apartment will be available from 4pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.

Bedrooms: The bedroom has a super-king sized bed which can be split into two singles if required. There are two bedside cabinets with drawers, bedside lamps, a small wardrobe, a large linen basket and ceiling fan.
Bathrooms: The shower room consists of shower, wc and wash-hand basin. There is also access to a storage/laundry room.
Kitchen: The modern kitchen is well equipped with a ceraglow hob, electric double oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. There are stainless steel pans/utensils and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glasses. There is also a small drop leaf table with 2 chairs.
Living Rooms: The living room has a sofa-bed (for which there is an additional orthopaedic mattress), dining table with 2 chairs, satellite TV, CD/stereo and DVD/video machine. The central ceiling light is on a dimmer control.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
All towels and linen are provided and changed on a weekly basis.

 

Notes on accommodation
Although there is no air conditioning the ground floor location means the apartment stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. There is a ceiling fan in the bedroom and a gas heater in the living room for additional comfort.

Accessibility
There is good road access for those hiring a car and parking is usually available in the street. Additionally there is a municipal car park (free) a short walk away. Please note that the apartment is located half way up the old town so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems. Please also be advised that there are 2 steps leading to the kitchen and 3 leading to the bathroom.

Coast/Beach
The beach is about 20 mins walk/2 mins drive on the other side of the town. Salobrena's wide beach is split in two by El Peñon rock and boasts several 'chiringuitos' (beach bars), popular restaurants and bars, gift shops, a cyber cafe and facilities such as pedalo and jet ski hire. From Salobrena it is possible to enjoy walks along the coast in one of the few remaining attractive rural areas on southern Spain, where sugar cane grows and nature has not been pushed aside by over development.

Golf
Los Moriscos beachside golf course is just a 5 minute drive away in Motril but there are also more golf courses around Malaga and Granada.

Skiing
The Sierra Nevada, Europe's most southerly ski resort, is just 90 minutes drive from Salobreña. Where else can you ski in the morning and then sun yourself on a Mediterranean beach in the afternoon whilst enjoying free tapas?

Travel
Salobrena is about an hour by car from Granada airport and around 75 mins from Malaga airport. Almeria airport is also just over 90 mins away. Excellent local transport means that car hire is not essential and we can also arrange private pick-ups from Malaga/Granada.

Distances
The historic city of Granada and the beautiful Alhambra palace are around an hours drive, at the foot of the beautiful Sierra Nevada, while the bustling city of Malaga is just over an hour away. There are regular bus services to these cities and beyond from Salobrena. The local towns of Motril and Almunecar are a short drive/bus journey away boasting a variety of shops, bars, restaurants and leisure activities.

Booking notes
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking with the remainder being due 6 weeks prior to departure. Payment to be made in pounds stirling directly into UK bank account or in Euros direct to Spain. A £70/€100 security deposit is required upon arrival at the apartment.
