Driving down the winding road to the village of Portabrosmos, the stunning view of the Rio Sil Canyon opens up before you beckoning you to the unspoilt rural landscape and La Casita below. Within easy walking distance of the river La Casita nestles among the vineyards of the Ribeira Sacra ("Sacred Shore") and the nearby viewpoint of Cadeiras offers a breathtaking view of the Canyon as well as providing some spectacular walks. Furnished to a high standard, La Casita provides both comfort and luxury. The vine shaded terrace creates respite from the sun's heat whilst dining al fresco and is the perfect setting for enjoying a bottle or two of the local wines. The area is rich in wildlife and it is not unusual to see deer scamper across the hills or hawks circling above. The annual fiesta of Portabrosmos, between 7th and 9th September, is celebrated with music and dancing at the site of Cadeiras.

Accessibility
Due to the nature of the surrounding terrain we regret this property is not suitable for wheelchair users.
Outside
The tiled and gravelled terrace, shaded by vines, is equipped with seating for up to six. It overlooks the views of the vineyards and river. It is the perfect setting for dining al fresco or just enjoying the view. There are sun loungers, occasional tables and umbrellas in the unshaded terrace. A wooden gate separates the vineyard from the courtyard. There are ample walks around the vineyards. Please note that there is no direct route to the river through the vineyards. Access is by road a short walk away. The front courtyard has its own private parking space for one car.
Coast/Beach
Man made sandy river beach at Coba. Sandy beaches and Cie isles at Vigo. Please note that if you wish to fish in the river a fishing permit is required. Please ask us for details at the time of booking.
Golf
There is a local nine hole golf course in Monforte de Lemos and an 18 hole golf course in Panton with excellent facilities and driving range. Please contact us for further information.
Skiing
There is a ski slope with chair lifts in Manzaneda about 60 kms away.

Ourense: offers a large shopping area with its wonderful bridges, banks, bars and restaurants as well as outdoor natural hot water spas.
We are happy to help with any activities that you are interested in, i.e. quad biking, canoeing, cycling, horseriding. Portabrosmos has wonderful wild life especially birds. It offers plenty of opportunities for artists.

About the owner
We retired to Galicia about five and a half years ago where we live in a typically Galician spacious stone farmhouse. Our neighbours are like family now and we have settled in very happily and become part of the community.
Although we keep ourselves busy the pace of life is relaxed and tranquil and we have truly found ourselves the good life.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We chose this stone house in Portabrosmos with its own vineyard for its tranquility, spectacular views and close proximity to the river. Its vine shaded courtyard provides the perfect setting for relaxing outdoor lunches or peaceful drinks overlooking the river. Whereas the open courtyard affords adequate room for sunbathing.
The house is surrounded by the vineyards of the Ribeira Sacra ('Sacred Shore') and is a hive of activity at the end of September when the grape harvest is brought in.
