This magnificent property has everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible whilst providing a base for exploration. Luxury is an understatement with a 300 sq.ft lounge, 560 sq.ft of terrace entered by any of 6 double glazed patio doors, 4 individually controlled air conditioning units and full gas central heating. All this with lift service to your door. Castillo de Locubin (Castle of the Eagles) is a traditional village and is ideal for exploring the Region with Granada, Cordoba, Jaen, Malaga and Seville all within easy reach. The apartment is in a quiet spot near the village centre with bars, restaurants, shops and the most beautiful little tree lined park which hosts the Monday market. It is furnished in a contemporary style but with emphasis on comfort. Huge leather sofas, for example, are grouped around the large screen TV giving you all the ITV and BBC English channels. On the terraces are comfortable reclining sunloungers ready to take in the sunsets.

Changeover day
We would expect guests to take advantage of cheaper midweek flights and therefore changeover days will be flexible and by arrangement.

Notes on accommodation
As previously mentioned, all services are new and the lift service in particular takes you effortlessly from ground floor directly to your doorstep. There are 4 individually controlled air conditioning units to ensure your comfort summer and winter. The gas fired central heating combination boiler gives you hot water when you need it. The apartment is also quite close to the local municipal swimming pool so that you do not need to go far to cool off.

Skiing
Sierra Nevada Ski Resort is close to Granada and the city is only 50 minutes away. The Ski Resort boasts the best snow and the longest season in the country - 5 months of snow.
60Km of slopes, 45 pistes, 6 off piste routes, 2 cable cars, 12 chair lifts and 5 ski lifts. Open 9 - 5 with night sking at weekends and bank holidays. Alpine style resort with hotels, hire shops, ski schools, bars, restaurants and 3,000 space car park. Other facilities include husky sleds, snowboarding and a tourist train which runs around the resort.
Special interest holidays
We are promoting Castillo de Locubin as a base for further exploration of the Granada, Jaen, Cordoba and Malaga Provinces. The village is close to the borders of all these regions. To this end we have put together details of places and routes of interest all of which we have experienced. We would be happy to provide these upon request.
Travel
Granada International Airport is 50 minutes by car from Castillo de Locubin. Daily flights from London, Liverpool and East Midlands via Ryanair and/or Monarch.
Malaga Airport is 90 minutes by car.
Car hire is recommended although Castillo does have a good bus service to Granada, Jaen and Cordoba.
Distances
Alcala la Real - (10Km) Magnificent castle, museum, shopping large Tuesday market, theatre.
Priego - (20Km) Tourist town, restaurants, shops, baroque arquitecture.
Montefrio - (25Km) Picture perfect village, hilltop castle, prehistoric site.
Granada - (60Km) city life, shops, nightlife, Alhambra.
Cordoba - (75Km) Riverside city, the Great Mosque.
Further details
Castillo de Locubin is a large village of some 8,000 people with a full range of shops, bars, restaurants and banks etc. There is also a small market on Mondays in the park which is 2 minutes walk from the apartment. Frequent buses run between here and the nearest town of Alcala (pop 21,000), which is about 10Km away. Alcala is quite vibrant with a very good range of quality shops and a greater variety of restaurants and bars. Market day is Tuesday. Both Castillo and Alcala are on the 'Route of the Caliphate' which is an age old Moorish route between Cordoba and Granada. To quote - 'this Route proposes an enticing adventure for the spirit, between two shining stars of the fabulous legacy of Andalucia'. I have good books on the subject. The Route of Washington Irvine also passes close by. In this route between Seville and Granada the village of Montefrio is given good mention. A little further afield is Alhama de Granada which is home to a famous natural hot spa which still gushes from the ground at 40 degrees celsius and much visited centuries earlier as part of the European Tour by the likes of Lord Byron. At the other end of the scale we have the mountaintop village of Zuheros with its much visited prehistoric caves and restaurants with fabulous views. The village has played host to David Beckham and the rest of the Real Madrid team. These are but a few of the places of interest within range of the village of Castillo de Locubin. There is little wonder that we have no further use for the coastal resorts.

Had a wonderful time here. A week was not long enough. Visited Jaen, Alcala la Real, Alcaudete, Zuheros, Martos and Granada. Linda and Steve were perfect hosts and always on hand if needed. Can't wait to return again. The apartment was perfect for our needs, in top condition, clean, homely and ideally situated.

We are a married couple who elected to retire early to a sunnier climate and found our dream location in Castillo de Locubin. We have moved from an urban, professional lifestyle to a more rustic, campo existence. When our boots and spades are finally thrown to one side we shall be retiring to our beautiful apartment to live a life of ease. Until then, the apartment is offered to discerning travellers who appreciate comfort and convenience.
