Villa Serrania is single storey and set amidst 10,500 sq.m of private land in rural Bedarin on the outskirts of the small hilltop village of Bedar with spectacular views of Bedar village and its mountain range, Mojacar village and beaches plus the spectacular Cabrera mountains. If you should tire of the peace and tranquillity at the villa, there is an abundance of villages and activities (especially golf courses) to keep you occupied. Bedar is a 2 minute drive and offers a good and varied cuisine with a lively and friendly community. The villa location is ideal for nature lovers and for walkers to explore the countryside or simply to relax in and around the almost circular swimming pool which has shallow steps at one end and are ideal for sitting to cool or for children to play upon. (tiled in 2010 giving greater efficiency and cleanliness). If required, a welcome pack is available at 25 Euros payable to the caretakers on arrival and must be ordered when paying full balance.

Notes on accommodation
Installed (Nov 2011) a fan assisted log burner which is easy to light, use and extremely warm. We have a thermostatically controlled wall mounted gas heater system in the lounge with external flue for safety. Also movable electric heaters for the bedrooms and halogen heater for the kitchen. Wall mounted bathroom heater. Apart from the ceiling fans we have a Portable Air Cooling Unit which can be moved to room as desired. A selection of DVDs, CDs, tapes, videos, books and childrens games. Children have recorded wonderful times in our visitors book(including our grandchildren of 12 and 9 years). Naturally, all children must be supervised in the vicinity of a swimming pool and around the villa. In the main bedroom, we have a Super king size bed with firm mattress. Our caretakers check for any damage on each clean and report any damages prior to new clients. We do not charge a damage deposit but trust our clients to replace any damaged or broken items in respect of following clients.
Accessibility
The villa is on one level with easy walking area around the villa and in the villa. There are not any steps at the main entrance. There are steps to the kitchen door. There is a step from each set of French doors which open onto the swimming pool area. However, access to the pool area can be achieved on one level from one side (if in a wheelchair), or both sides if mobile.

Private swimming pool. The almost circular swimming/cooling pool is 5.5x4.5m and has shallow steps at one end which are ideal for sitting to cool and relax or for children to play upon with supervision. The pool has recently been tiled as opposed to painted which gives more efficiency and cleanliness.
Ample sunbathing terraces and furniture. Sunbeds and cushions. Dining/pool area gazebo and barbecue. Outside pool shower. Covered relaxing side gazebo with conservatory three seater settee, four cane dining chairs and matching round glass table. Entrance walled and gated courtyard with dining areas. Benches set around the villa in relaxing locations. Drive with car port and mature olive trees. Small gardened areas and seating. Spectacular views from all locations. Over 10,000sq.m of private land with olive trees, flora and fauna. Lots of birds to watch including Eagles, Buzzards, Swallows and the beautiful Hoopoe bird. Our resident Spanish tiny tortoise to look out for!

Travel
Car hire is essential. The nearest airport is Almeria approximately 45 minutes drive. Alicante Airport is approximately 2 hours drive. Murcia Airport is approximately 1 to 1.5 hours drive and has a Toll Road with costs around 13 Euros each way.
Distances
Bedar is the nearest village and is a 2 mins drive or 15 mins walk.
Lubrin which is further inland is a 15 mins drive.
Between Bedar and Mojacar are the towns of: Los Gallardos, Vera and Turre all with excellent markets and shops.
Garrucha fishing port and harbour has an excellent Friday market.
Water Park at Vera. Karting at Los Gallardos. Caves at Sorbas. Mini Hollywood and Safari reservation at Tabernas within a 45 minute drive.

Bedar is a small working mountain village with 5 popular bar/restaurants which serve excellent tapas, menu del dia and/or A La Carte. One offers free WI FI Internet Access.
The village boasts a Church, bank, doctors, chemist, bakery, tobacconist, hairdressers, internet cafe (limited opening hours), Town Hall, Community center with various activities throughout the year, and small supermarket.
There is a large open-air municipal swimming pool (summer months) and football ground.
At the entrance to Bedar is a large Car Park where you can sit a while and wonder at the amazing sights over the landscape, followed by a refreshing drink at one of four of the five Restaurants which are within easy walking distance.
The church is the centre of activities with a variety of religious fiestas taking place throughout the year. Visitors to the area are made extremely welcome.
There are many places of interest to visit in the surrounding area. The Natural Park in Cabo De Gata, near Almeria is famous for its Salt Flats, flamingos and rare and endangered flora. The Almeria fortress, Cathedral and the Civil War Refugees Museum is an interesting day trip followed by a very good shopping centre for the ladies!! The historical museum of Vera, the Art museum of Antonio M Campoy in the Castle in Cuevas Del Almanzora and the Cave museum again in Cuevas are all worth a visit.

£100 per week deposit required (non refundable) by Postal Cheque only. Letter of booking confirmation when deposit received which will include the balance due date. Balance due by 8 weeks prior to departure. Letter confirming balance paid and to include arrival and key collection details plus caretaker contact numbers. Cancellation refunds are as follows: No cancellation charge above 8 weeks prior to holiday. 50% refund between 4 to 8 weeks. Less than 4 weeks will have no cancellation refund.

Our fifth visit to this haven of tranquillity! A peaceful setting with all amenities provided and again a wonderful holiday. Fantastic friendly atmosphere in the local bars and restaurants. The children voted to stay at the villa rather than go to the beach and can't wait to be back next year.
My wife and I both agreed that this was our perfect honeymoon location.
Being a family of 'walkers' and 'golfers', we thoroughly enjoyed our private walks and decided to learn more about the area by joining the local rambling group. The guides and members were extremely friendly and informative. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we did not have time to play golf! It was lovely to return to the villa to re-charge our batteries for the next day. Have left Villa Serrania hoping for more at a later date.
A wonderful, peaceful holiday in a stunning location with fantastic views. The villa was perfect in every way, clean, bright and well equipped. A dream!

Hi, we are James (Jim) and Julie.
Having visited the Bedar and Mojacar areas for many years, we longed for a time when we could find a place to call our own.
In 1998, with the help of a friend who lives in Bedar, we found our perfect plot of land and began the process of making our dreams come true.
Our dreams were: of a villa built in the typical Andalucian style, in a private, peaceful, rural setting with views which could never be spoilt and that we would never tire of or take for granted.
After many trials and tribulations we were the first to build in our area on the outskirts of Bedar village and completed in the year 2000.
Eleven years later when life gets a little hectic, we long to sit in the peace and quiet and appreciate those views we have never tired of.
