Isla Canela (The Isle of Cinnamon) is the real Spain, a place where Spanish and Portuguese people holiday. The beach which faces the apartment has 5 miles of empty white sand lapped by the Atlantic Ocean. There is a beautiful promenade which extends for most of it's length. Along here are luxury hotels which welcome non residents and the restaurants and facilities are excellent. The climate is exceptional and is perfect to enjoy Golf all year round. Isla Canela has a golf club in an unbeatable setting, surrounded by canals, as well as orange, olive, lemon and pomegranite trees. Just 4km away over the short bridge to the mainland lies Ayamonte which has blossomed from a small village into a busy town with many restaurants serving delicious local dishes. From here you can catch the ferry which runs every 30 minutes to the Portuguese Algarve. The crossing is calm across the River Guadiana and the picturesque journey takes just 20 minutes.

| Bedrooms: | Master bedroom with Queen size bed and glorious seaviews. The other 2 double bedrooms and have twin beds. All 3 bedrooms have attractive contemporary Spanish style bedside tables and lamps and dressing tables. All 3 bedrooms have fitted wardrobes. |
| Bathrooms: | The master bedroom has a full bathroom en suite consisting of bath, shower and wash basin, bidet and toilet. The 2 large twin bedrooms share a similar bathroom with full bath, shower, bidet, wash basin and toilet. This is located between bedrooms 1 & 2. |
| Kitchen: | Fully integrated built in oven and hob, American style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave. Sufficient pots, pans, cutlery, tableware all in good condition and checked regularly. Garlic presses, pizza cutters, coffee maker, sufficient Pyrex dishes etc. |
| Utility Room: | Good quality washer/dryer, storage for sunbeds etc. |
| Living Rooms: | Large living room leading via patio doors to the spacious balcony. There is one 2 seater sofa and one 3 seater sofa with a floor lamp. A wooden dining table that will seat 6/8 is set next to the kitchen. A cot can be supplied and put in here or a bedroom. |
| Other: | The balcony comfortably holds a table and 6 chairs and a parasol as well as 2 full size sunbeds. The views from here are remarkable. |
| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
Towels and linen are provided and are changed before you arrive and again after you leave. A mid stay clean can be arranged. |
Notes on accommodation
Very efficient dual purpose airconditioning units in each room provide warmth in the cooler months but will cool the rooms down in the hot weather.
SKY TV has been added from 3 April 2009 so that you can access most UK channels and more!

Accessibility
The complex was built in early 2000 and is fully compliant with wheelchair regulations. You can therefore access all area with the use of a wheelchair.
Outside
In the grounds is a good sized communal family pool which never seems to become too busy. There is a children's playground consisting of slides, seesaws and swings as well as a sand pit in the communal grounds. This is located in a shady part of the beautifully kept gardens. There is also a baby/children's pool for the use of guests. Please note that the pools can be closed in the cooler months.
There is also a dedicated and reserved secure underground car parking space right next to the lift for the apartment.
A concierge is on site every day to deal with any queries or maintenance issues. The complex is secure and not accessable by non residents, although security is not an issue on Isla Canela.
Right outside the wrought iron attractive gates is the Marina with it's International restaurants and across the water, just a 10 minute walk from the apartment is Punta Moral, a typical "pueblo blanco" with charming restaurants as well as shops and quayside bars.
Coast/Beach
If you walk out of the apartment complex and walk across the roundabout and walk alongside the sand coloured apartments you will reach the promenade in 2 to 3 minutes. The beach is in front of the promenade and this extends for miles and miles. Sunbeds and parasols are for hire at a small charge on the beach or you could take your own. There are 2 beach bars selling drinks and snacks on this part of the beach. Beyond the beach lies the Atlantic Ocean.
Golf
Isla Canela has a golf club, 5 minutes drive from the apartment in an unbeatable setting, surrounded by canals, as well as orange, olive, lemon and pomegranite trees.
The following golf courses are within a 30 minute drive of Isla Canela: Castro Marim, El Rompido, Quinta de Ria, Quinta de Cima, Benimor.
Within an hour's drive you can access the main Portuguese Algarve courses such as San Lorenzo, Quinta De Lago, Vale de Lobo and Vilamoura.
Travel
The nearest airport is Faro and this is just a 40 mins drive. Seville is a 1 hour drive from Isla Canela. You can fly to Seville as an alternative to Faro and maybe enjoy a break in this most historic and Spanish City before enjoying the peace and relaxation of Isla Canela, just over 1 hours drive away. You can fly from Liverpool, Stansted and Dublin direct to Seville with a low cost budget airline whose fares start from as little as £5.00 return plus taxes. You can also fly to Jerez or Malaga.
Distances
You can fly to Faro with many, airlines, scheduled, chartered and low cost from most airports in the UK and Ireland.
The distance from Faro to the apartment is around 65 kms and the easy journey takes about 45 mins.
Passing through Ayamonte on the way before reaching Isla Canela this town is well worth visiting for its piazzas, reataurants, shops and tapas bars. You can catch the ferry from here to Portugal and visit Altura which is a typically Portuguse seaside town with a great waterpark.
Further details
I can recommend the restaurant, Chiringuito de Antonio V, which is situated in the Marina, no more than a 2 minutes walk from the apartment. It opened in November 2005. For something different, there is an excellent Lebanese restaurant located opposite the 14th Century church right in the centre of Ayamonte. The food was delicious when I ate there in October 2006.
There are several banks in Ayamonte and an ATM in the marina.
