Less than 20 minutes inland from the beaches of Torre del Mar and only 40 minutes drive from Malaga airport. Shops, restaurants etc are nearby and exciting day trips possible.

Notes on accommodation
Heaters and fans are provided. Bedlinen and towels are provided (except beach/swimming towels). Children are welcome. New for 2012 - shower cubicles.
Accessibility
The accommodation is all one level. However there are no paths for wheel chairs.
Outside
The villa is surrounded by extensive grounds planted to fruit trees, has ample patio furniture and a built in barbecue. The casa has its own entrance and enclosed terrace, with seating area and patio furniture, BBQ and a small garden. The private swimming pool, 9m x 5m, is shared between the casa and villa. Note at certain times of the year the units can be rented out independantly hence making the accomodation private to you. The pool has ample sun terracing around it with a shaded area. Please note that the swimming pool is unsupervised and used at your own risk.
Ample parking for both villa and casa. There is a play area with basketball net, table tennis, dartboard (please request) and room to kick a ball.
Coast/Beach
The beaches of Torre del Mar are less than 20 minutes drive away. All along the coast there are many sheltered coves as well as long beaches with beach bar restaurants (chirenguito's).
Golf
Baviera Golf is on the coast within 15 miutes drive.
Skiing
Sierra Navada is a 2 hour drive away and perfectly possible to do in a day´s trip - ok with an early start! The ski conditions are surprisingly good for this far south and the season normally extends from December through to late April.
Special interest holidays
Horse riding over the local mountains or along the beach with experienced riders.
Travel
Malaga airport is a 40 minute drive or an alternative is Granada airport, about 75 minutes. A hire car is essential.
Distances
We are only 10 minutes drive from the main shopping areas of Torre del Mar and Velez Malaga where a few shops are open even on a Sunday for fresh bread and basic stores.
Further details
We are only 10 minutes from the new N 340 (E 15) motorway (Velez Malaga Junction) that is now open to just east of Almunecar giving easy access to the whole Costa del Sol. Close at hand there are numerous beaches, the Aquavelis water park, golf courses, Lake Vinuela, Nerja caves, the 'white villages' of Axarquia and the Sierra Tejeda nature reserve, which is ideal for walking and picnics.
Shops and restaurants are a short drive away. Large shopping complex 10 minutes away with Mango ...multiplex cinema and ten pin bowling.
During the summer - in fact most times of the year- there is some local event taking place from the village party to fun fairs.
Further afield possible day trips include the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Granada, Seville, Ronda, Cordoba and Gibraltar. More recently we have explored the lovely city of Malaga and would recommend you do not miss it out. Or just relax by the pool - suntan lotion recommended.

I have very limited internet connection, so sorry last message was so short - sent from my phone!
Anyway - we were all thrilled with the location of the villa actually, with Torre del Mar and Nerja being just near enough. the villa really was perfect for us with young kids as we didn't feel that anything was paricualrly untouchable (apart from where you'd noted!) - it was comfortable and so well kitted out in terms of cooking /dining stuff!
We didn't mind at all that the pool wasn't fenced off as you could see it was right in the villa so easy to check and get to.
House swap

About the owner
We moved out to Spain with our 2 children who have since grown up and are now settled in university education in England. Our daughter is embarking on a career as a teacher in Uxbridge and our son has started his studies in law with Phylosophy at Exeter. We had an enjoyable two years back to England so our son could do his sixth form studies there and have only just recently moved back.

Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We were very lucky getting early retirement and having children who were willing to take on the challenge of a move abroad. So with this we decided on Spain and the Malaga region with its ease of access. As I was born in Wales I have always enjoyed rolling hills and when we drove east from Malaga and into this valley - I was smitten with its beauty. We chose a plot with nearly 360 degree views yet sheltered and private. Every day we look out and see something different depending on the way the light hits the land. We are also lucky to have sea views and at certain times of the year can see Africa.
Unique benefits of the property
Our home is situated in a small urbanisation with plots of 6000m3 so we do have neighbours but also seclusion. Malaga airport is only 40 minutes drive along a motorway and then a main road inland. The track to us is wide enough and made of concrete with signs so finding us is very easy. Shops and restaurants are within a 10 minute drive and you can choose from a great variety. We are in an area that still offers free Tapas and lots of sea food. You can be as Spanish or as English as you like - we can tell you how. As we have lived here with our own children our home is young person's friendly.
