Enjoying stunning mountain views, this newly built cottage is situated only a short walk through the private orange grove to the banks of the river Ebro. Although this is a peaceful, rural location it is only a 5 minute drive to the nearest town and village and only a 20 minute drive to the fabulous beaches of the Costa Dorada. This is an ideal spot for fishing, bird-watching, hiking, mountain-biking, or for just relaxing by the swimming pool, (available May to September). An outdoor kitchen and barbecue area and small children's play area make this a perfect base from which to enjoy this wonderful region of Spain. The cottage enjoys its own private, shaded terrace and lawn area and there is also shaded parking.

The cottage can be booked by the day - please contact us for prices. Price includes towels, bedding, gas and electricity. All-inclusive riding holidays available, please contact us for details. 10% discount for 2009 holidays if booked before 30th September 2008.
Changeover day
Bookings are usually from 4 pm Saturday to 10am Saturday, but we can be completely flexible on this.

| Living Rooms: | The lounge is comfortably furnished and has satellite TV, a DVD player, a CD/radio, books and games. We also have WiFi access for you. Patio doors lead onto the covered terrace. Sofabed sleeps 2 as a double bed. |

All linen and towels are provided. The property is fully cleaned on changeover. A maid service is available on departure for a small cost. |
Notes on accommodation
There are ceiling fans in all rooms to provide cool air. Heating is available for the cooler seasons. This property is suitable for children, the elderly, families or groups. A baby/toddler pack consisting of cot with bedding, highchair, potty and children's crockery is available for a small extra charge.

Accessibility
All the doors are wide enough for wheelchair access. The bathroom however is not wide enough and the kitchen units are normal height. There is a gravel driveway but this has not proved to be a difficulty to wheelchair users. As everything is on one floor, it is suitable for people with partial mobility.
Outside
The covered terrace is for the sole use of the occupants of the terrace and contains table and chairs for 6 people and loungers. There is a new lawn area at the side of the cottage for sunbathing and relaxing. The cottage has its own barbecue set in addition to the shared outdoor kitchen/barbecue area by the pool.
There is an outdoor kitchen area with large barbecue, swimming pool and children's play area shared with the owners. The property is situated in a rural area and has its own orange, fig, lemon, olive, peach and other fruit trees. Pleasant gardens are provided around the pool area for your relaxation. There is a large grass area suitable for ball games.
The gardens lead directly to the banks of the river Ebro, with access to the banks over a small wooden bridge and steps. Fishing is possible from the banks and also further along the area, (licence needed, contact us for details).
Coast/Beach
The cottage is a 20 minute drive to the beautiful beaches of the Costa Dorada and the Ebro Delta, which is famous for its bird life and rice fields. San Carlos de la Rapita is the nearest beach, which has been purpose built for holiday makers. Amphibious wheelchairs are available free of charge for disabled to go into the sea here.
The coastal resorts of Hospitalet and Miami provide beautiful sandy beaches with small, rocky coves. The very popular resort of Salou is only a 40 minute drive away.
Travel
Barcelona airport is 1 hour 45 minutes drive from here, Valencia airport is a 2 hour drive. These are served by all the major airlines.
Reus airport is a much smaller airport, served by Ryanair and a few other airlines. It is only a 40 minute drive.
Tortosa is served by a good train and coach connection from Barcelona, however car hire is probably essential, although there is an English taxi driver available is pre-booked.
Distances
The local village of Jesus with its bars and shops is only a 5 minute drive away. The beautiful town of Tortosa is only a 10 minute drive. The Ebro Delta is 20 minutes away. There are many fascinating sights to see, all within under 30 minutes drive. And of course for the young and young-at-heart, Port Aventura and the Caribe Water Park are only a 40 minute drive.
Further details
A wide range of interests are catered for locally, including fishing, mountain biking, horse-riding, hiking and bird-watching. All these activities can be provided as organised activties if wished by the various companies in the area. We are on the edge of the natural parc region, where a host of different activities are available, including organised hikes, climbing, abseiling and canyoning.
The town of Tortosa is steeped in history and the whole region is full of interest and culture. July sees a week long Renaissance Festival, where a huge variety of activites, exhibitons and excursions happen. The town is decked out in Medieval style and the atmosphere is vibrant. September sees a weeklong Fiesta de la Cinta, the patron saint of Tortosa, again with masses of displays and activities. The fiesta culminates in a spectacular fireworks processions through the town and a stunning display on the river at midnight.
There is always a fiesta to go to throughout the long, hot summer and even in winter there are celebrations of some kind taking place.
The wide variety of bars and restaurants both in the town and on the coast will delight the palates of all food and wine lovers.
We are served by 2 large supermarkets and a hypermarket which is only 5 minutes drive away. Tortosa is full of independent shops - no Marks and Spencers or other retail outlets here, but that means delightful bargains and unique presents are easily available.
This region is a bird lover's paradise, with a huge variety of birds, including eagles. The cottage is surrounded by citrus groves and market gardens, drawing a large number of birds to the area. You don't have to leave the grounds, or even your lounger, to spot a huge variety! You can even swim in the pool and watch the eagles overhead.
Horse riding is available at an English run stables only 10 minutes drive away. Here, all abilities and interests are catered for, with 10 horses, 2 ponies and 2 donkeys available.
Booking notes
A 20% deposit is payable within 7 days of your booking. The balance is due 8 weeks before your holiday commences. We will hold your booking provisionally until your deposit is received, then the booking will be confirmed by email and those dates are exclusively yours.
