The roof terrace gives a perfect vantage point for the many fiestas and processions which are part of the local community and a delightful place to sunbathe or eat under the stars. During the summer, neighbours sit out in the street catching up with the day's news and are delighted to stop and chat. The house is set up as a holiday home, not a rental property. Its position in the center of the old town is ideal for walking to the scores of restaurants, to the 5 kilometers of beaches and to explore the narrow lanes filled with unique boutique shops selling leather, jewellery, clothing and artifacts.

| Cleaning/towels/ linen/maid service: |
A meet and greet service is included as is a final clean. For bookings over a week a cleaner can be arranged. Payments must be cleared 4 weeks prior to commencement of stay. A 10% deposit is required. A bond of 100 euros is also required. |
Outside
Lower roof terrace off sunroom with sliding glass doors accessing the terrace. Tiled open stairs to the top terrace with wooden table, chairs and sun umbrella.
Coast/Beach
5 minute walk to the closest of the 5 kilometers of beaches that half-circle the town. Sunbeds can be rented by the day. Pedaloes and boats available to rent. SCUBA diving on various wrecks. Many excellent beach bars (with free tapas)and waterfront seafood restaurants. A water park with wave pools, slides and water attractions open in summer on the eastern end of the beaches. Secluded on the western side is a naturalist beach with excellent blue water swimming. Yacht marina: Marina Del Este.
Golf
Salobreña Los Moriscos 9 hole is 15 mins drive. La Caleta 18 hole ("Baviera Golf") is 30 mins drive. Anoreta golf 18 hole is 50 mins drive. There plenty of other courses toward Marbella/Malaga in one direction and Almeria in the other.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada, Europe's most southerly ski resort Sol y Nieve in the Sierra Nevada Mountains is 60 minutes drive from Almunecar. For many months of the year you can ski and swim in the Med on the same day. With easy parking and lots of restaurants it is a good day out for all the family even if you don't ski.
Travel
Malaga is presently an hour's drive away (road improvements are set to reduce this to 45 - 50 minutes in 2007). If arriving during the day you can catch a bus from Malaga, hire a car or get a local taxi. Alternatively fly into Granada and hire a car - approximate drive time 45 minutes.
Distances
Granada with the spectacular Alhambra is approximately 45 minutes away. Nerja 15 mins away with its amazing caves and stunning scenery. National Parks: The Sierra Nevada, which can be enjoyed as a ski resort in the winter and for walks and mountain climbing for the rest of the year (approx 1 hr); Peña Escrita, Cerro Cordo and the beautiful Alpujarran 'white' villages (Lanjaron, Lecrin, Orgiva)great for walks and day trips all easily accessible.
Further details
Almunecar is packed with Roman and Phonecian history to be discovered when wandering through the cobbled streets of the old town. There are numerous museums, the castle, preserved artifacts and the Phonecian anchovy pens in the botanical gardens. This was the place Laurie Lee wintered before leaving Spain at the outset of the Spanish Civil War, living in a house, (possibly Carmen Baja 4), within sight of the Church. The family tradition lives on in Almunecar. Children are welcome everywhere and all ages walk the streets at night enjoying the Mediterrean climate and relaxed ambience. Lively summer nightlife caters to all ages, with bars and discos, jazz clubs, festivals and cultural events staged indoors and outside. Days can begin at the market buying fresh seafood, meat, fruit vegetables and flowers, or sitting at an outside cafe. Wide range of sporting facilites: horse riding, rock climbing, tennis, SCUBA diving, golf, excellent walks, spas, gyms etc...
