Balcon al Mar (Balcony to the Sea) is established as one of 'environmentally near perfect' Javea's better residential areas, occupying a prime position at the tip of Cabo de la Nao. This quiet, south facing detached villa with sea views is set amongst gently undulating pine-clad hills leading to dramatic cliffs. Javea is relatively untouched by the mass market and offers an extensive range of activities including tennis, golf, bowls, horse-riding and water sports. The old town of Javea is a bustling fishing village with a modern marina. The main beach at Arenal boasts 0.5 mile of golden sand next to the Costa Blanca's only Parador Hotel (government run chain of luxury hotels with only the best locations).

Alicante or Valencia airports approximately 1 hour. Car rental is considered essential and can be arranged to meet you at the airport.

Supermarket 0.8km. Tennis at Los Pinos 0.8km (asphalt and clay courts). Telephone 0.2km (excellent mobile phone reception).

Further details
You will find a variety of restaurants in the area serving a world of cuisine as well as local dishes. Cap Negre, the Dawn of Spain, is within easy walking distance and is where the rising sun first encounters the Spanish mainland. The villa backs onto a wooded copse (zona verde) and the neighbours are permanent residents (and quiet). GoogleEarth co-ordinates 38 44'21.73N, 0 13'38.51E will take you into the pool!

About the owner
When we bought the villa in 1995 it was in a tired state in need of a pool, which necessitated considerable "deforestation". The kids apologised to every pine tree destined for the chop. Total modernisation has since taken place and, being self-employed in England, we were able to get away frequently. The villa has a particularly good location backing onto Zona Verda with mostly permanent residents as neighbours. It enjoys an elevated position while on fairly level ground and extensive sea views reach east towards Ibiza (visible on a clear day) and south. After 15 years we still find the views inspiring. The more we discover the delights of Javea the more we're convinced it is indeed the Jewell of the Costa Blanca.
