The detached cottage is situated in a small hamlet about 10 minutes by car from the town of Heutor-Tajar (HT) in Granada province. Loja and Montefrio are close by. Set in a large plot on the hillside with other similar properties, some of which are still working smallholdings. The cottage is surrounded by olive groves and has its own gardens and outside areas. New for 2009 will be a covered gazebo with fitted Bar-B-Q and outside kitchen. The cottage, which was renovated in 2004/5 to a high standard, sleeps 6 and is 20 minutes from Granada, 45 minutes from the coast at Malaga and 55 minutes from the ski slopes of the Sierra Nevada.
The cottage is within easy drive of the Alhambra, Seville, Ronda, Cordoba and Antequera. As an alternative take the train through spectacular scenary to Algeciras.

Notes on accommodation
Air conditioning to upstairs and down. All rooms can be heated in the winter by underfloor heating/storage heaters and (kitchen/dining room) wood burning stove. There is also a freestanding gas and an oil filled heater to provide instant heat.

Accessibility
There are steps into the house and on the ground floor. There are stairs to the first floor.
Outside
There are rose and oleander plants in the gardens to the west and east of the property. West contains a private pool (5 1/2 m x 3 1/2m) with shower. The pool is reached via a patio terrace with artificial grass along pool side. Outside furniture and parasol are provided for the terrace. Shade is also provided by a mature tree/shrubs. Garden to east also contains mature trees and wildlife friendly terrain with, (from 2009), a covered gazebo with fitted Bar-B-Q and outside kitchen. There is an outside area to dry washing and ample off road parking.
Coast/Beach
The coast at Salobrena is less than a 60 minute drive away. Both the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical coastlines vary with beautiful sandy beaches to pebbly bays and rocky headlands. Both are about 1 hour away along mainly quiet, free Autovias
Golf
There are golf courses in Antequerra and Granada. They are about 30 minutes drive.
Skiing
The Skiing World Cup resort of the Sierra Nevada is a 1 hour drive from the cottage. It has an excellent snow record from December though April with both beginner and expert runs. Ski classes, ski hire, bars, lifts, and tows are all to be found at the base village.
Special interest holidays
Nature walks are available and can be arranged on arrival with a local expert. Bird watching tours can also be arranged, but reservations are recommended.
Travel
The nearest airport is Granada, (20 mins), with Malaga only 55 mins away. A car is essential. There is off road parking at the cottage.
Distances
The local village of La Fabrica is a 15 minute walk where 2 bars and restaurants can be found. Another 2 bars are to be found at the bottom of the hill on the main road. The nearest small town of Heutor Tajar is 5km, Loja is 10km. Granada and the Alhambra/Generalife are 25km. Cordoba, Sevilla are 2 hours away by car. They are also accessible by train from Loja. The tourist villages of Rio Frio and Monte Frio are close by.
Further details
The baker calls daily (Mon-Sat) at approx 8.30, with butcher and fruit/veg calling twice a week. A large new supermarket and small, but well stocked, shops and banks are 5 mins in the car at Huetor Tajar. A similar range of shops and supermarkets are to be found in Loja. Hypermarkets and first class stores/shops are to be found in Granada. Advance Booking for the Alhambra is recommended and this can be done through any branch of the BBVA bank. There is one in Huetar Tajar. You can also go "on spec", ignore the queues and buy a ticket from the ticket machine instead.
Remember that most buinesses in Spain still close for siesta between 2pm and 4/5pm every working day. However, large supermarkets including Mercadona in Heutor Tajar now stay open through siesta.
There is a new large Leisure Facility in Huetor Tajar including indoor/outdoor swimming pools and gym which is available at very low cost to all.
Booking notes
Prices are inclusive of bedding, towels, mains water, electricity and gas. (A/C in summer and Heating in winter.)A returnable key/damage deposit of £75 per week is requested to secure a booking. A £50 (total) reduction is made for bookings covering 2 weeks. Full payment should be received one month before occupation.
