A charming cottage standing in the village of Banastón Usana, only 2kms from Ainsa. The entrance to the property is either via the Santa Agueda covered street, the longest one in a region renowned for its covered streets, or via the garden in front of the house.
Casa Blas, a grand old stone farmhouse dating back to the 17th Century, is situated in the village of Banastón Usana near Ainsa. The imposing oak front door of Casa Blas is reached after passing by a small chapel and through a covered street, the longest of its kind in the region. This former farmhouse has been beautifully restored with great respect for the original structure. Traditional features such as wall recesses, windows and wrought ironwork have been maintained to give a truly authentic feel to this magnificent dwelling.

Notes on accommodation
The entrance hall to Casa Blas stands out with its concave stone roof, walls adorned with agricultural artefacts and its original stone vat for storing olive oil. The first floor is home to a spacious living dining room with wonderful baked earth floor tiles and balcony, a small well equipped kitchen and for those who enjoy taking a step back in time, an authentic Aragonese kitchen with open fireplace, solid wooden benches and a fold down table. Two double rooms are also to be found on this level. The top floor has 4 double rooms with wonderful old decorative floor tiles, a separate bathroom, laundry room and a terrace where the sunrises and sunsets are not to be missed over the Mediano Reservoir and surrounding countryside. The ground floor of Nº7 cottage is home to the living room/kitchen with fireplace and a terrace. One twin bedroom, one double bedroom and a bathroom are located on the upper floor.
Accessibility
The front door to Blas, inscribed with an engraving of the St Jacques de Compostela pilgrims' shell is reached via a vaulted stone archway with cobble stone flooring. You can park your car 60 metres from front door then walk through archway to house. The entrance to Nº7 cottage is 10 metres inside stone archway.
Outside
Guests are invited to relax in the terraced garden in front of Casa Blas. In the Nº7 cottage access to the garden is via the cellar.
Skiing
Skiing is available across the border in the French station of Paiu-Englay or in the next valley over; Benasque Valley. Driving time to Piau-Engaly is approx 1h15 and to Benasque 45 mins. There is cross country skiing in the Pineta valley, a half hour drive from Ainsa direction France. There are numerous ski touring routes and also snow shoe treks in the area.
Special interest holidays
All adventure activities can be booked locally in Ainsa. These include canyoning, rafting, trekking, quads, horseriding, rock climbing... 4x4 vehicles and bicycles are also available for rent in Ainsa. Maps of Ordesa and Posets-Maladeta and Sierra de Guara can be found in the local bookshop. The local swimming pool is open in July and August. There are also numerous natural pools for bathing along the Ara and Cinca rivers. Paragliding and parapente are available in nearby Castejon de Sos.

Banastón Usana is a 5 minute drive from Ainsa or a half hour walk along a waymarked path. Ainsa is the main village in the region of Sobrarbe, and there you will find all the sports adventure companies, restaurants, bars, banks, supermarkets, tourist office and the weekly outdoor fruit and veg market on Tuesday morning. Ainsa is located at the crossroads to three areas of outstanding nature beauty: the Ordesa National Park home, the Posets-Maladeta and the Sierra de Guara Natural Parks.

Ainsa is located at the crossroads to three areas of outstanding nature beauty: the Ordesa National Park home to Monte Perdido the largest limestone mountain in Europe, the Posets-Maladeta Natural Park, entry via the magnificent Chistau valley and the Sierra de Guara Natural Park, world renown for its canyoning. All three parks offer an endless array of outdoor activites from one hour strolls along the valley floor to 3000m+ peaks like Posets and Perdido. Alpine wildflowers can be enjoyed all summer long, though May and June are truly spectacular months. There are good chances of spotting marmots, deer, 'sarrios' Pyrenean mountain goats, vultures, lammergeier...
The tourist office offers guided tours of the old part of Ainsa on request. They can also advise on opening hours for the numerous Romanesque churches scattered throught the region. Visit the 6th Century St Victorian Monastery below the Peña Montanesa mountain near Los Molinas. Visit Muro de Roda, near Tierrantona, a defensive walled enclosure with church and impressive views of surrounding area. Visit the countless hamlets and villages of Sobrarbe In the surrounding area of Barbastro in neighbouring Somontano, a 45 minute drive from Ainsa, numerous bodegas offer guided tours of the wine making process and their cellars.

To guarantee the reservation, we ask for a 25% booking deposit of accommodation cost by bank transfer (bank costs at your charge). We also accept payment by visa or mastercard. The remainder is due 30 days prior to rental start along with a security deposit of 100 euros. The latter is returned on departure subject to no damage.
