This delightful, detached & very private cottage is an easy drive from both Granada & Malaga airports, & is the lovely hamlet of 'el piso'. Within a short walk is the picturesque village of Fuente del Conde & historic Iznajar town with its lake & sandy beach is a 10min drive. Sitting proudly on the hillside with uninterrupted views of the valley, it retains many of its original rustic features, whilst having been stylishly rennovated. A mature grape vine shades the sunny terrace and in season you can pick fresh figs, pomegranates and almonds from the trees. For colder months, there is a cosy wood burning stove, the ski slopes of the Sierra are a 90min drive away. Numerous local walks, the landscape offers fantastic photographic, writing, painting opportunities. The cottage is superbly located for reaching the great andalucian cultural cities of Granada - 45min Malaga - 1hr Cordoba & Seville - 2hrs. Our changeover day and your arrival and departure time is completely flexible.

| Kitchen: | Homely kitchen - gas cooker, fridge/freezer, kettle & saucepans. Well stocked cookwares incl.citrus juicer, 'Nigella' utensils, all crockery, cutlery & cook books incl. Moro - middle eastern cuisine at it's best! Also, a portable BBQ for alfresco dining. |
| Utility Room: | Once the original dwelling in the 8th century, a small 'cave' is now used as storage space for terrace furniture, garden equipment & BBQ etc. |

Linen is included but not bath towels. The property is clean on arrival, but should you require clean sheets & a tidy up half way through this can be arranged at an extra cost. |

Outside
Patio, BBQ and outdoor furniture are supplied. We are trying to resist installing a pool because of the on going shortage of water in the region. All house water is pumped direct from our own fresh water well and is therefore drinkable.
Coast/Beach
There is a sandy manmade beach on the lake at Iznajar just 10mins drive away with lovely bar/& the nearest coast line is towards Malaga which is 1hr drive away. Here there are superb beaches, restuarants & shopping areas. From the end of July the local swmming pools open & there are two particulary good ones at Villanueve de Tapia & Cuevos de San Marcos.
Golf
The nearest 18 hole golf course is in Antequera which is a 30 mins drive away. There are also numerous courses on the coast around Malaga.
Skiing
The nearest ski resort is in the Sierra Nevada which is a 90 min drive away. This is a stunning journey and a real opportunity to visit one of Spain's most exciting cultural destinations.
Travel
Granada airport is a really convenient 40 mins drive. Malaga airport is an easy 1 hour drive. Ryanair, Easy Jet, BMI Baby and other budget airlines operate regular flights into both airports.
If you wish to reduce your carbon footprint, we can arrange for you to be collected from the airport, otherwise for touring the region and sight- seeing a car is essential - please ask for details.

Nearest village is Fuente del Conde a 10 mins walk.
Nearest town is Iznajar a 10 mins drive.
Antequera is a 30 mins drive.
Malaga/Granada 45mins - 1 hour.
Seville under 2 hours.
Cordoba just 2 hours.
Further details
The local area has a wealth of real spanish life & culture waiting to be explored. The landscape is unrivalled, at anytime of the year. For everyday supplies, there is a well stocked supermarket and bakery in Fuente del Conde & a great bar/restaurant serving what we think is the best tapas in the area. Iznajar town has the convenience of banks, supermarkets, chemists, fish mongers, hardware stores & hospital. In addition there is a lovely castle, local history museum & library Restaurants and road side 'ventas' offer simple well cooked and traditional spanish food and there are a couple of excellent places to eat within a 15 min drive.
No visit to Andalucia would be complete without a visit [or two!] to its famous cultural cities and these are all within easy reach. More locally there is the pretty town of Priego de Cordoba, which boasts more than its fair share of Baroque churches and Antequera, with its stunning architecture, bullring & great shops. Alternatively you can get away from it all completely & visit El Torcal a uniquely ancient limestone plateau north of Antequera, for stunning walks, wild life and bird watching. The wildlife and sunsets are fabulous!

All normal usage of gas, electricity and water is included. Logs are provided for use in the wood burner stove during the colder months. Long-term out of high season rentals would be considered at reduced rates. Please ask for details.
