This 12 year old turretted villa, built by a French artist, is set on a hillside with panoramic views overlooking the plains of Empordà, the Mediterranean sea to the east, the local Mont Gri hill to the north and the Pyrenees to the west. The house is conveniently situated for a choice of good, sandy beaches (nearest 3km) and for a wide range of activities and excursions. The house is equally suited to golfers requiring a choice of excellent courses all within a very short distance, families with children or small parties looking for a base for activity holidays. There is easy access to the main roads and to a good range of shops and restaurants, some of which are in walking distance. The house has been recently improved and furnished. The grounds have been totally renovated, completed 2006. Very good supermarket and bakery at end of road. Car essential.

Notes on accommodation
Air-conditioning/heating available (additional cost of Euros 40 per week). Domestic electricity and gas included. Barbecue gas not included - small Camping Gaz canisters can be exchanged locally. The house is suitable for children. A substantial stair gate has been built across the stairs from the upper terrace to the pool terrace. Safety bars have been added to the internal spiral staircase. Wi-fi Internet access available at small additional cost.

Most accommodation on ground floor with level access from road. The house is not suitable for wheelchair use.

Situated in grounds of 600sqm which were totally renovated and landscaped in 2006. Front and rear terraces with panoramic countryside, mountain and sea views. Private pool 8x4m with thermal cover in lower terrace area. Pool and patio furniture, covered terrace by pool. Upper rear terrace has barbeque and large patio table (seats 8). Steps between upper rear terrace and pool terrace (with stair gate at top).
Coast/Beach
Platja de Pals - long sandy beach. Good for children. Beach bar, pedaloes, windsurfing; 3km. Numerous small sandy coves within 10 minutes drive eg Sa Riera, Aigua Blava, Sa Tuna, Tamariu, Llafranc, Calella de Palafrugell. Fishing towns with good beaches eg L'Escala and Palamos - 15 minutes, lively resorts with large sandy beaches eg Platja d'Aro - 20 minutes.
Golf
The house is within 5 minutes drive of all three golf clubs in the 'Golden Triangle of Golf' - Golf Platja de Pals, Golf Serres de Pals and Golf Empordà. These three courses offer four 18 hole PGA championship courses. In addition, the popular Par 3 Golf Pitch & Putt de Gualta is also within 5km. The house overlooks Golf Serres de Pals, with both Golf Emporda and Golf Platja de Pals visible in the distance. All four courses have golf schools, with multi-lingual tuition available for both adults and children. Further PGA courses are within 20/25 minutes drive: Golf d’Aro (Mas Nou), Club de Golf Costa Brava (Santa Cristina d’Aro), PGA Golf de Catalunya, Golf Girona. 30-40 minutes: Golf Perelada, TorreMirona Golf Club, PGA Golf de Catalunya.
Skiing
Vallter 2000 is within an easy 2 hours drive on good roads; La Molina and Vall de Núria are also about 2 hours; Andorra 3 hours.
Travel
Nearest airports: Girona (40 minutes), Perpignan (1.25 hours), Barcelona (1.5 hours).
Ryanair flies direct to Girona from many European destinations.

La Torreta is owned by a professional family living and working near London. For most of the year La Torreta is used by the family, both as a base for working and for holidays.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We knew parts of the south of Spain fairly well, but work committments drew us to Barcelona and the coastal area immediately to the north. The family's collective 'shopping list' for a house included proximity to Barcelona, skiing, beaches, golf and good tennis facilities. We also wanted what we called a 'holiday view', a view that was far removed from our daily lives near London.
Unique benefits of the property
We make very good use of the golf facilities in the area and enjoy skiing, playing tennis and cycling. We also enjoy all the local festivals and wandering round the medieval villages.
We appreciate the excellent shops and bakery just at the bottom of the road. Perhaps most of all we enjoy just lazing round the pool and enjoying evening barbeques on the upper terrace, watching amazing sunsets over the rice plains, mountains and the sea.
