A lovely non-smoking apartment in an attractive building with views over the sea from a sunny south west facing terrace and situated in front of the beautiful Velilla beach and promenade. Cross the road and you are on the beach. Bedlinen and towels are supplied. The rental includes parking in the building’s underground car park. Almuñecar is a town steeped in history with its traditional cobbled old town streets and plenty of pretty squares. The Moorish castle of San Miguel sits above the town and below there is the Majuelo, a beautiful botanical gardens where during the summer there are artistic productions: the international jazz festival, flamenco, etc. There are no shortages of amenities nearby – Shops, restaurants, beaches, water sports, golf courses and diving centres. The Sierra Nevada ski resort is ninety minutes away: one can ski in the morning and swim in the sea in the afternoon! Almuñecar is about one hour drive from Malaga or Granada.

Coast/Beach
The beach is right on the doorstep. Further coves and wonderful walks over very beautiful cliffs are just there.
Golf
A nine hole golf course is situated at Campo de los Moriscos - approx 8-9 km. Los Moriscos is an all-round sports and leisure complex situated next to the sea.
Skiing
There is a ski resort in Sierra Nevada, Sol Y Nieve, open Dec - April, less than 90 minutes drive. One can ski in the mountains in the morning and sunbathe on the coast in the afternoon!
Travel
Almuñécar is an 80 minutes easy drive from Malaga Airport and Granada Airport. You will be met in Almuñécar at the apartment building. A car is not essential as there is a good public transport system.
Distances
La Herradura is a very pretty village 6kms from Almuñécar. It has good fish restaurants on the beach. There is a walk over beaches and incredible beautiful cliffs from Almuñécar to La Herradura. After a paella in La Herradura you can take the bus back to Almuñécar!
Further details
History buffs will enjoy the Moorish castle, the ruins of the Roman sardine processing factory, the newly excavated Phoenician ruins. Shoppers won't want to miss the Friday morning flea market where you can find everything from imitation Levis to hand crafted pottery. The municipal market (el mercado) in the centre of town is open every morning except Sunday and there you can find produce, fish, meat, flowers, teas and spices.
THE COSTA TROPICAL is not nearly so well known as the neighbouring Costa Del Sol to the west. The Costa Tropical is picturesque and you will find it far easier to get away from the crowds. The mountains run right down to the sea and the coastline is typically a series of coves and promontories. La Herradura to the west is pretty and unspoilt and located between the two attractive promontories of Punta De La Mona and Cerro Gordo. Nearby, in a protected cove east of Punta De La Mona is the impressive Marina del Este yacht harbour. Water sports and scuba diving are popular here, thanks to the variety of sea life and clarity of the water. The white village of Salobrena is worth a visit. Here you will be torn between visiting the moorish castle and the beach. The sugar cane plantations give credence to the name Costa Tropical where there is a micro climate making it warmer during the winter months. An abundance of mangos, papayas, avocados and other exotic fruits are produced in this region.
Booking notes
Deposit of 25% on booking. Remainder due 6 weeks prior to arrival. A security deposit of 50 Euros is payable on collection of the keys and will be refunded on departure - provided that there is no loss of keys, breakages, or need for excessive cleaning.
