The Sierra de la Contraviesa, is famous for it's organic wine production, these award winning wines can often be found in the top restaurants throughout Spain, Europe & America.Your stay will be in the Sierra Contraviesa on a farm in traditional Alpujarran accommodation. Delicious home cooked evening meals & light lunches are available using only home grown or local organic produce

All self catering prices are per week, not per person and are based on high season 1 April – 30 September. Low season is 1st October - 31 March excluding Christmas, Easter & New Year.

Christmas/Easter specials inc traditional 5 course meal. Engagement, honeymoon and anniversary specials include a 4 course meal served with local wines and champagne.

Notes on accommodation
The accommodation has been recently renovated to a high standard, suitable for single people, couples & families.

The owners live nearby so are always available to help and assist whenever required, but rest assured we would always respect your privacy.

Maps and reference books are available for your use. We also provide 3 course evening meals freshly prepared on the day, which include 2 scrumptious deserts per person, all served with regional wines, beer, tea or coffee, together with brandy or whisky & chocolates. A box of groceries can be provided upon your arrival if notified in advance.

All accommodation is regularly cleaned during your stay. Any of the accommodation can be booked individually or all the accommodation can be booked together to accommodate a large family or group. Outside
Superb private sun balconies ideal for sunbathing or socialising, with spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

We have great walks right on our doorstep with breath taking scenery, here you can experience the raw beauty of the true Alpujarras.


There are BBQ facilities, shaded sun terraces with wooden outdoor furniture and courtyard with swimming pool (for our guest use only), and sun loungers.
We also offer mountain bike hire, archery lessons.We also have a large trampoline with a safety net plus a boules pitch which is great fun on a summers evening.

The Sierra de la Contraviesa is famous for it's wine production, Vinos de la Tierra, achieving many awards throughout Spain. The 2 vineyards Barranco Oscuro & Finca Cuatro Vientos surround our accommodation at Cortijo las Chumbas and both offer wine tasting and vineyard tours for our guests.

Coast/Beach
Glorious beaches such as Salobrena, La Rabita, Roquetas de Mar and Adra, are within easy reach, also in the National Park of the Cabo de Gata you will find the delightful El Monsul and Playa Genoveses both south of San Jose, stunning beaches well worth visiting. All of which can be reached within 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours.

Golf
Golf courses are within easy reach at Almunecar, Almerimar and Roquetas de Mar and Mortil.

Skiing
Winter skiing and snow boarding at Solynieve Granada also cross country skiing and sledging at Puerta de la Ragua are within 1 1/2 hours.

Granada and Almeria airports are only 1 1/2 hour away. Malaga airport is only 2 1/2 hours away. Car hire is recommended but if you are unable to drive or do not wish to hire a car we can arrange airport pickups.

Malaga 135 minutes.
Orgiva 40 minutes.
Albondon 15 minutes.
Costa Tropical and the Mediterranean Sea 35 minutes.
Cabo de Gata nature reserve is only 80 minutes.
Local town of Cadiar is only 20 minutes.
Mountain villages such as Bubion, Pampeneria and Trevelez are all within easy driving distance.

Further details
The delightful mountain villages of Albondon and Murtas are close by together with Cadiar, the gateway to the Alpujarras which is only 20 minutes away, with its numerous shops, including bakers, butchers, banks, medical center, chemist, supermarkets and a good selection of bars and restaurants. For more vibrant shopping and nightlife, Motril, Granada and Roquetas de Mar are not far away.

Large group bookings - self-catering utilising all or part of the accommodation (excluding Christmas and Easter) can accommodate up to 16 people sharing. Price per person £80, based on a minimum of 10 people.

Normally a deposit of 30% will be required at time of booking, (the balance is payable in euros at time of arrival) but if the booking is close to the departure date full payment in euros will be required on arrival.
