This charming, fully equipped and air-conditioned 2-bedroom traditional stone cottage has a 9 x 4m filtered pool exclusively for guests, 2 en-suite bathrooms, satellite TV, Internet, table tennis, BBQ and CD and DVD. The pool is fenced off for safety. Get away from it all, lazing by the pool in perfect privacy in the pretty, walled garden - invisible to the world, with only nature to look at, listening to bird song. Nestling in a valley at the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Casa Rosada is ideally located to explore the best of the Alpujarras - the authentic Spain, the cradle of flamenco. The vibrant city of Granada with its must-see Alhambra is just 1 hr away. The beach, golf and the many picturesque ancient Moorish mountain villages with numerous fiestas all within ½ hr drive.

Notes on accommodation
The cottage is ideally suited either for a family with children or for 2 groups of friends as it consists of two wings - each forming a self-contained unit with a separate entrance into the garden, for extra privacy. However, the two wings are interconnected, so that young children in the other wing will be both totally secure at night (the house has iron grills on all windows, doors and patio) as well as only 3 m away from the master bedroom via an internal patio (or the sofa bed in the large master bedroom can sleep a child/children).
Each wing has a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, each with a bath, shower and a bidet, each with a large open-plan area with a fireplace. An attractive wrought-iron wood-burning stove provides heating in each part for winter lets. A cot and a high chair are available.
For the colder months an electric heater is provided in each bedroom, or wood can be provided for the wood burning stove for extra coziness, for a small supplement.
Accessibility
The cottage is suitable children as the pool is fenced off, the garden is fully enclosed within a wall, and all the doors, windows and the patio are protected by iron grills. The house is not is near a busy road.
Outside
Through an ornate, antique carved wooden gate, enter the colourful, fragrant, walled garden full of exotic flowers and fruit trees; relax on an English-style bouncy lawn, with 4 loungers and a swing seat for two, in the pool area or by a coffee table and a barbecue. The mosaic-lined, fenced-off pool is 9 x 4m and 1.5m/2.2m deep. It has underwater light, jets and modern filters. This is perfect setting for alfresco dining at a table for 6, shaded under a parasol, for enjoying peaceful sunbathing in total privacy from prying eyes or for that fiesta under the Andalucian stars. The garden of Casa Rosada is as private and not overlooked as it gets; surrounded as it is by a high perimeter wall, beyond it - its eucalyptus grove, home to myriad singing birds such as nightingales.
Coast/Beach
The nearest beach is at Playa Granada 32km/25 miles away, with a golf course and a restaurant. The beach restaurant here is perfect for that special occasion in a luxurious setting. The nearest seaside town is Salobreña, 35km/27 miles away, with all facilities and a Moorish castle on a towering rock. Drowning in colourful flowers, with palm tree-lined avenues, Salobrena is as spectacular as it is still unspoit by mass tourism. There are some excellent restaurants on the beach.
Golf
Golf: Near the Salobrena roundabout, some 30 km away, there is a golf course. Equipment can be hired.
Locally, you can paraglide, hire mountain bikes and quads, play tennis and there is an aqua park within 1 hr picturesque drive on the coast.
Skiing
Until the end of April, it is possible (if you get up early) to go for a day's skiing in Sierra Nevada, the southernmost skiing resort of Europe, situated at the height of 2,100m, with its 61km of piste on 39 runs. Equipment can be hired.
Special interest holidays
There are yoga courses in Orgiva, a painting school and various alternative therapies are available.
Travel
Granada airport (Ryanair) 1 hour. Malaga airport 2 hrs 15min. The nearest railway stations are Granada and Malaga (c. 26 hours from London).
We recommend a hire car to give you the freedom and flexibility to explore, however, it is possible to reach Orgiva by bus from Malaga in approximately 3 hrs and we can provide further instructions on this. Distances
Granada with its Alhambra Palace and a medieval cathedral is 45km/33 miles away. The ski resort of Sierra Nevada is a similar distance. Many charming Andalusian ?white villages? are 20 minutes drive away.
Further details
Orgiva is well known for a wide range of activities available locally: therapies such as yoga, massage, etc; horse-riding and trekking, paragliding, walking with guides, painting - are all available locally, and further information can be provided.
During November to March, when heating will probably be necessary, a neighbour will provide cut-up wood by private negotiation. The friendly, English speaking local girl who looks after the house will be able to help with childminding or provide extra cleaning if required during longer stays, on a private basis.
This is a self-catering villa. On our own website (www.tolkan.com), you can find information about supermarkets opening hours, with directions, should you be arriving late. If you want a hamper on arrival with some basic foodstuffs, our house-keeper can arrange that, for a small charge (6 euro plus the invoiced cost of food).

Booking notes
A deposit of 25% is required with booking; the balance (plus a returnable deposit for breakages of £50) to be paid 4 weeks before arrival. If booking is less than 1 month before arrival, the full amount is payable at the time of booking.

What an amazing house!
We loved every moment of our holiday.
Casa Rosada is so secluded, peaceful and beautiful, we really didn't want to leave. As we were at the house for 2 weeks we had a night away in Granada, and as amazing as it was, we just wanted to get back to the tranquility we'd so quickly become accustomed to.
It's a real home from home, and Carmen was so helpful.
We are definitely going to book another week next year, as we've truly never been this relaxed after a holiday.
The region of The Alpujarras is beautiful and unspoilt. Listen out for the goats who come down to graze, just one of the magical memories we have from our time in Orgiva.
