Changeover day: flexible.
Arrival time after 4pm. Departure time no later than 10am during high season. Please consult as owners will try to adapt to other arrival and departure times when possible.

Notes on accommodation
The holiday cottage El Sequer is equipped with heating and air conditioning, TV/DVD/CDplayer, videos & CDs, reading material , internet access & children's games. Kitchen eqiupped with hob, oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, mixer, juicer, table ware, cutlery and glassware. Two mountain bikes provided for guests use.
On arrival, guests are greeted with our special welcome pack & amentities while owners personally greet guests and are happy to provide local information, make restaurant reservations etc. The house is suitable for children and has a cot and highchair.
No smoking in bedrooms. No pets allowed.
This holiday home is legally registered with the Valencian Tourist Board and complies with all safety norms and regulations.
We may not be the cheapest but the quality of our installations, service and attention we offer is our guarantee for a memorable and trouble -free holiday.

The holiday cottage El Sequer is on one level and suitable for low-mobility restricted persons.
Outside
This unique and charming cottage, (one of the first rural tourism establishments granted a Quality Tourism Certificate by the Spanish Institute for Quality Tourism) is located at the back of the village, set amongst an orange grove at the foothills of the Segaria mountain providing a spectacular backdrop. The finca, a true haven of peace and tranquillity and completely enclosed, has a variety of fruit trees and a small vegetable garden where guests can pick fruit, aromatic herbs & vegetables when in season. The secluded and sunny south-facing garden, is ideal for sunbathing next to the swimming pool (4 x 5m) or relaxing and reading under shady trees, beside the barbecue area. There are outdoor tables and chairs for al-fresco meals on the porch from where panoramic valley and mountain views are enjoyed. Sunloungers, beach umbrellas and children's games are also provided. There is a children's play area and covered parking.
Firewood is provided for the woodburning stove in winter.
Coast/Beach
Long, sandy and still unspoilt beaches between Denia and Oliva are only 10 -15 mins away by car. These are especially safe for young children but also offer windsurfing and sailing activities. To the south, between Denia and Javea (20 mins) there is a choice of small rocky or pebbly coves ideal for snorkelling or scuba diving. Denia's marina offers sailing courses for all ages. Boat charter can also be arranged.
Golf
3 excellent championship golf courses are only 10-15 mins drive away:
Oliva Nova Golf course, (18 holes) designed by Seve Ballesteros.
La Sella Golf course (18 holes), designed by Jose Ma Olazabal.
The Javea Golf Club (9 holes).
Other golf courses within a 20 - 30 mins drive in Moraira, Calpe, Benidorm and Altea.
Skiing
Just under 2 hours drive away is the beautiful Valdelinares ski resort northwest of Valencia at an altitude of 1.700m and 8 ski slopes.

The owners, Jenny and Oswaldo personally meet and greet guests providing them with invaluable local knowledge and information about outdoor activities such as walking routes, trekking, canyon descent, abseiling, cycling routes, bird watching, bowling, nautical sports such as sailing, windsurfing, diving, golf, horse-riding, etc.
Many cultural and local events programmed throughout the year.
In Low Season (October - May) we offer gastronomic and wine-tasting routes, (to local but internationally acclaimed wineries).
Spanish cookery courses, etc.
Guided or unguided walking or cycling routes as well as birdwatching tours available. Get together with a group of friends (cheap low season flights available) and join us for a memorable experience.
From September-November: trips to nearby villages can be arranged to see how raisins and olive oil are made. Wine tasting tours and routes now available. Contact us for information.
Travel
Both Alicante and Valencia airports are only 1 hour away by motorway. Highway link is only 6km away. (Exit Nº 62 – Ondara-Denia-Javea). Car hire is recommended. Available at airports. Owners can provide information.
Ferry crossing to Bilbao and then an easy 7 hr motorway drive down to Benimeli. Owners can provide information of stopover points or an overnight hotel along the way.

The nearest towns are: Ondara (6 Kms) Denia 15km. Javea 20km. Gandia 25km. Benidorm 30km. Valencia and Alicante 90km. Guadalest and Algar waterfalls (30 mins). Benidorm theme and water parks 30 mins. Safari park Vergel: 10 mins. Prehistoric caves: Benidoleig and Pego 10 - 15 mins. Antique and flea markets: 10 - 15 mins in Jalon, Pedreguer, Pego.

The small and picturesque village of Benimeli, with its narrow streets dating back to the times of Moorish occupation and stately homes, is one of the most charming and friendly towns in the Rectoria valley, a lush oasis of green citrus groves stretching down to the Mediterranean coast and surrounded by impressive mountain ranges. Both our houses are only a 2-5 mins walk to the village centre where a bar/restaurant, small supermarket and butcher, traditional bakery, church and cultural centre are located. There is also a chemist, post office, garden centre selling international press, municipal sports area, children's playground and horseriding stables.
Because of its privileged position, many leisure activities are only within a 5km/25km radius; 3 outstanding golf courses, 3 nature parks (Montgó mountain, Pego Marshlands and the Peñón de Ifach in Calpe); Safari parks, prehistoric caves, a marine reserve, horse-riding, sailing, windsurfing, boat charter, mountain climbing or hiking, bird watching , bicycling through the valley, etc. Guided walks can also be arranged. The area has several craft/pottery centres, flea markets, wine cellars, prehistoric caves and other places of interest, both cultural and historic. There is a good variety of local and international cuisine with 2 Michelin star restaurants nearby. Several local fiestas or celebrations take place throughout the year,... paella contests, firework displays, traditional parades, music bands, street dancing... all add the festive touch to this area, where time and nature are values to be cherished. The owners, who personally attend to pool and garden maintenance during your stay, are delighted to provide guests with a wealth of information on all aspects of the area.

About the owner
After living for many years in the north of Spain, and tired of the rain and cold, my (Spanish) husband and I decided to change our lifestyle and professions and move to a warmer and sunnier region. Our idea was to set up and manage a country style holiday accommodation - known as rural tourism in Spain (a similar concept to French gîtes).
Why the owner chose a home in this location
We already knew this area very well and loved the green countryside only a few kms inland from the coast. An ideal location for our project (tranquillity, stunning scenery, nature options and activities, beaches, historic sites, excellent gastronomy easy access to main communication networks linking this area to the rest of Spain). It took us 3 years to buy and painstakingly restore 2 semi-ruinous 19thC Spanish fincas located close to each other on the outskirts of Benimeli, a picturesque village semi-surrounded by mountain ranges, in the lush citrus growing Rectoria valley spreading down to the sea between Oliva & Denia. We have taken great pains to provide a "home away from home" atmosphere, where our guests will want for nothing, while experiencing the "real Spain" in Benimeli village.
