Cal Turró is a beautifully restored manor house in the heart of Spain's famous Cava-producing region. Surrounded by the vineyards of Freixenet and Codorniu, the house also affords magnificent views of the jagged peaks of Montserrat, home to the spectacularly located monastery of the same name. Less than half and hour to the south lie the Garraf Massif and the wonderful beaches and golf courses of Sitges, famous for its fiestas and museums. And all this only 50 mins from Barcelona, surely one of Spain's greatest cities. Cal Turró is not only a great base from which to 'sight-see' but also to experience the peace and quiet of the countryside and enjoy some R&R with a glass or two of wine.

Notes on accommodation
Rooms have been sympathetically restored and tastefully decorated, leaving many original features, such as exposed brick walls and beams and antique furniture, yet still providing all the 'mod cons'. All rooms are centrally heated, and thick walls mean they stay cool in summer.
No pets (except guide dogs) permitted.
All the rooms are on the top floor of the house and radiate off a central hallway. Guests may book any number of the bedrooms (up to 3) as well as, or instead of, the self-contained suite. Please contact us to discuss your room needs and a tailor-made price.
Note: as all guest rooms are on the second floor, this property is not suitable for mobility-impaired guests.
Outside
There is a large garden (about 3000 m2), with a small pine wood awash with daffodils in spring. Beyond this are vineyards and olive groves and wonderful views of Montserrat's peaks. The grounds are an ideal place to relax, rest, read a book, have a barbecue (equipment provided) and enjoy a glass of Cava. Both house and grounds are 'child friendly' and there is plenty of parking space.
Coast/Beach
Sitges and Vilanova i la Geltrú are just 20-25 mins drive. Sitges is well-known for its beautiful beaches, golf courses, museums, fiestas, film festival and other cultural events. Vilanova i la Geltrú is a coastal city with a fishing district and pleasure port that contrast with the bustling city centre with its mix of modern and colonial period houses. Both towns are renowned for their Carnival celebrations just before Lent.
Travel
You can fly into Girona (1 hour 15 mins drive) or Reus (1 hour drive) from the UK with Ryanair, or into Barcelona (50 mins drive) with all the main world airlines and from the UK with low cost carriers like Easyjet, Thompson, Air Scotland, EUJet, Monarch, Jet2, MyTravelLite, Fly Globe Span etc. Your own hire car is essential to fully enjoy the area.co-ordinates N: 41º 24' 58" E: 1º 40' 56"
Distances
Vilafranca del Penedés with its bustling Saturday market and Wine Museum, many shops, restaurants and supermarkets is just 10 mins away, as is the town of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, where most of the Cava producers are located. The monastery at Montserrat is 25km drive. Sitges and the coast are 25 minutes by car. Barcelona is 50 mins. The Natural Park of Olérdola, with its pre-Roman ruins, and the Sierra del Bolet mountain range (ideal for walking and horse riding) are just 15 mins away.
Further details
Guardiola de Font-Rubí, the nearest village, which is less than 10 minutes away by car, has 2 bar/restaurants, a bakery, 2 general stores, a pharmacy, a cash point (ATM), post office and an open air pool (June-Sept). In summer, before grape harvest, all the towns and villages have fiestas, with local dances and the famous ‘castellers’, human towers up to 10 'storeys' high. The Font-Rubí fiestas are around 15th August (a national holiday). October sees the grape harvest festival, where the old grape-trampling methods are recreated for all to see (and participate in!).
We remind you that most shops, including supermarkets, are closed on Sundays. However, in Guardiola village there is a baker's and a general store where you can buy bread and other foodstuffs (fresh meats, tinned food and other basic necessities). These two shops stay open until 1.30 pm on Sundays.
Booking notes
50% deposit payable by bank transfer or credit card (PayPal). Balance payable on arrival in euros.
All bedding and towels are provided. For longer stays, towels are changed every 3 days and bedding weekly. Unless otherwise arranged, cleaning of self catering rooms is only done between guests.
