Our spacious new apartment was awarded the best value for money award together with the award for the best owners website, by the East Midlands Business News in 2006. The apartment is situated in El Faro on the end of the block on the first floor. The apartments are low rise and and arranged in three adjacent quadrangles. Our property faces onto the middle quad overlooking a landscaped area and small play ground. It is flanked either side by two landscaped pool areas with loungers, umbrellas and showers. The nearest pool is a few steps to the left of the apartment.

Prices shown are for the property per week in UK Pounds.
Still 2007 prices! Discounts for lets of more than 2 weeks in high and peak season. Also daily rates for short breaks in mid and low. Discounted monthly rent for long term lets according to seasons.

Changeover day
In high and peak season bookings run from Saturday to Saturday but there could be flexibility out of the main season. The apartment is available for occupation from 4pm on day of arrival and must be vacated by 10am on day of departure.

Bedrooms: 2 bedrooms, one double and one twin, both have fitted wardrobes.
Bathrooms: 1 full bathroom with bath, shower, vanity unit, bidet wc.
1 cloakroom with basin and wc.
Kitchen: Separate kitchen, fully fitted with large fridge freezer, electric oven and hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave.
Utility Room: There is a small utility balcony, leading off the kitchen, for drying clothes and storage.
Living Rooms: Spacious lounge with dining table and chairs, a comfortable, double sofa bed, a matching 2 seater settee, coffee table, English TV including Sky Sports and Movies! There are patio doors leading out to a large balcony overlooking landscaped area.
Other: Patio doors lead out to a large balcony area with patio furniture for “al fresco” eating and lounging.
Cleaning/towels/
linen/maid service:
Cleaning at the end of the let is included in the price. To keep the tariff reasonable we have made linen/laundry optional and guests are free to bring their own sheets and towels to avoid the laundry charges which are: £4 pppw.

 

Notes on accommodation
The complex is quiet and there are many residence who have made El Faro their permanent home in the sun. Their gardens and balconies are well kept and produce an array of colourful flowers from spring onwards. The residents are mainly a mixture of Spanish and British people.

Accessibility
As this apartment is on the first floor we would not recommend it for people with a problem with stairs, although they are not steep.

Outside
Patio doors lead out to a large balcony area with patio furniture for “al fresco” eating and lounging. There are 2 new, comfortable sun loungers and a new patio table and 6 patio chairs.
As this is not just a holiday complex, the communal areas are well kept and visitors have remarked on how clean and quiet the pools have been, even in the peak season. We were out for the last week in August 2006 and often had a pool to ourselves.

Coast/Beach
Within a short walk, shops, bank, internet cafe, supermarket, a few bars and restaurants, tennis, water park & the wide, sandy beach is a 300 meters flat walk & is part of a 17 kilometer stretch of white sand. There is a small beach club with pool, bar & a restaurant. A short distance away is Garrucha which offers a variety of restaraunts and bars plus a great market. The resort of Mojacar, where the mountains tumble down to the sea and the mountain village of Mojacar Pueblo extend the choice.

Golf
Golfers will find that the area is ideally situated, having 4 golf courses within a 15 min drive, including the prestigeous Desert Springs Golf Resort. This is an 18 hole, par 72 course designed by Peter McEvoy, the successful Walker cup captain. Situated about 15 minutes drive away, it is the first desert course to be built in Europe rivalling any of the, now famous, desert courses in Arizona or California.

Skiing
Vera is approx a 2 hour drive from the Sierra Nevada skiing resorts.

Special interest holidays
ORNITHOLOGY
A short drive will take you up into the mountains of the Sierra Cabrera or dramatic coastal scenery where a variety of mountain and sea birds can be viewed. There are organised bird-watching trips available for visitors. A half hour car journey will bring you to the Cabo de Gata Coastal National Park and a little further on the conservation salt flats where a variety of wading birds and even flamingos can be viewed.
WALKING
The mountain and dramatic coastline can provide a variety of landscapes to enjoy and explore. There are organised walks for visitors, available throughout the year, or just explore on your own.
DIVING
Some of the best diving in the Med can be found in the five mile, out to sea, maritime conservation water off the coast of the Capo de Gata National Park.
HISTORIANS
There is much to interest historians with the rich, Moorish past. The crowning glory is the Alhambra Palce in Granada - a 2.5 hour trip but well worth the effort. See our website link.

Travel
Flights: The nearest airport is Almeria with an onward journey time of approximately 40 minutes to El Faro. Murcia is another option but the transfer time is longer, approx 80 mins. Car Hire is recommended although there is a bus service to Garrucha from the apartment. For Car hire,
as with flights, it is best to search for the best deals. Often RyanAir and Hertz have deals linked to flights.

Distances
El Faro is situated on the coast, (beach 300m) It is 3 miles from the little Spanish town of Vera which boasts a rich heritage, including 16th century buildings, a gothic church with the appearance of a fortress, a variety of restaurants, shops selling quality ceramics and crafts and the prestigious new golf course of Valle del Este.
The bustling little fishing port of Garrucha is 5 mins by car.
The resort of Mojacar Playa is 10 mins and the picturesque
Mojacar Pueblo is 15 mins.

Further details
The apartments have amenties within a short flat walk.
There is a small shopping mall opposite the apartments which houses a well stocked supermarket and bakery, bank,internet cafe, terrace bar, and a variety of small shops. The facilities of the near-by four star hotel (excluding pool) are open to visitors, including evening entertainment if using restaurants.
A short 5 min drive in the car can take you quite quickly into "real Spain" which surrounds you. There are still undeveloped fishing villages like Villaricos and in land, white washed mountain village. There is a wide, uncrowded promenade which stretches from Laguna Beach to Garrucha, along a wide, white sandy beach - uncrowded even in the peak season. After your walk you could relax in many of the restaurants and bars which parade along the seafront enticing you with menus of freshly caught fish. This area of Almeria has not yet been discovered by mass tourism. Careful planning regulations and restrictions are in place to protect the province from over development. Mojacar Playa is a bustling resort with a long beach and promenade. Here can be found water sports banana rides, boat trips and numerous beach side restaurants and bars to cope with every taste. It is a family resort. A mile inland is Mojacar Pueblo, a "must see" picturesques Moorish, mountain village. After weaving your way through the laborinth of colourful, narrow streets to the top, you are rewarded with panoramic views of the mountains and sea. Why not stop and take in the view over a drink or meal at one of the panoramic eateries. Very romantic at night! Our nearest beach (300 metres from the apartment) has a wide expanse of white sand. Plenty of space. There are sunbeds and umbrellas in certain areas but if you want your bit of beach away from others, take an umbrella - 1 is available in the apartment. It is a lovely, natural beach. There are 2 restaurants and a few marquees provide additional drinks and snacks in summer.

Booking notes
Contact owner for a booking form. We also offer long lets and short breaks holding deposit £60 per week - non refundable. The balance to be paid eight weeks before departure. If you cancel your holiday after the balance has been paid, a refund will not be made unless we can fill the vacancy. We therefore strongly recommend that you take out a holiday insurance policy which includes cover for cancellation.
