Surrounded by olive groves and wheat fields and set in a peaceful location, the recently re-built cortijo is the ideal location for relaxing and enjoying the luxurious bed and breakfast accommodation. Jeff and Sally Webb designed El Amparo themselves, with the intention of providing a luxurious, quiet and friendly retreat. They offer a warm welcome and personal touches throughout your stay. They'll help you to make the most of your visit to this beautiful corner of Spain. If you want to walk or cycle, they'll provide maps, bikes, guidance and packed lunches. They'll help you organise your outings to explore the cultural delights of the area and if you want to just relax by the pool, they'll be on hand with a cooling drink! Notes on prices
Once the booking is confirmed we require a deposit of 25% with the balance due after arrival. Payments can be made by credit card or via our website (see link at bottom of this page).

Changeover day
Guests may check in at a time that is convenient.
Check out is 11.00am on day of departure but guest may stay all day and use the facilities.
Notes on accommodation
Rooms are cleaned daily.Towels and linen are changed every other day or as requested.
All rooms have underfloor heating and ceiling fans.
Accessibility
Our hotel has a room specifically designed to be wheelchair friendly with wide doorways. All areas of the hotel, including the pool, are accessible.
Outside
El Amparo is situated high on a bluff with stunning views over the surrounding countryside. We have a jacuzzi and large private pool (15 metres) which is ideal for those who wish to swim for sport. There is a large tiled patio area surrounding the pool, as well as a lawn for relaxing under the trees. You are welcome to walk throughout the grounds and the surrounding paths and trails.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful lake at Bermejales with its mountainous backdrop is only 20 minutes by car. Here you can enjoy a cooling swim in the crystal blue waters and take lunch at the local restaurants. For those wishing to visit the coast, the beautiful beaches of the Costa del Sol and Costa Tropical are less than 50 minutes away by car.
Skiing
During the winter months, the Sierra Nevada Ski Resort above Granada offers outstanding skiing for all abilities. As El Amparo is only 60 minutes from the resort and only 30 minutes from Granada, with its daily flights from the UK, you can check snow conditions, arrange a ski trip and be on the slopes in less than 24 hours.

Travel
Granada Airport is less than 30 minutes away and Malaga Airport just over one hour. Both Airports have daily direct flights from the UK and have car hire desks inside the airport.
We do offer a collection service from Granada Airport for those of you who wish to completely unwind, although we do recommend a car to fully enjoy the area.
Distances
For those of you wishing to discover the history of southern Spain and the Moorish trails, El Amparo is the place to stay. In the late 15th century Alhama de Granada was the key town in the defence of the Nasrid capital city during the last years of the Al-Andalus reign. Granada, which is only 30 minutes by car, is home to the Alhambra Palace. This magnificent spectacle has something for everyone from historic buildings and artefacts from the Nasrid kingdom, to the beautiful gardens.
Further details
Alhama de Granada, which is less than 10 minutes by car, has an abundance of shops, banks, bars and restaurants. There is a traditional Spanish market every Friday and many Fiestas throughout the year.
There are many historic sights in Alhama including the Roman bridge on the outskirts of the town and artefacts and buildings from the Moorish era. There is a local tourist office in the main square with information and walking maps to explore the town on foot.
