A hidden location, situated outside the small village of Puntalon, 3km east from Motril on the Costa Tropical de Granada. The area around Motril has probably the best climate in Europe. The surrounding agricultural land is filled with 'Invernaderos' containing; cherry tomatoes, green beans and cucumbers. Hillsides and valleys covered with fruit trees, many sub-tropical. Cortijo Nuevo a traditional country house set in lush gardens, converted into three private homes. The original Cortijo used by the owner, Casa Pequena, a charming 1 bedroom cottage and El Apartamento, modern, light and airy. Both available for self-catering holidays, totally Private and relaxing - wonderful sea and mountain views.
An ideal holiday touring base. Country location, yet not isolated. Many travellers have stayed here on bargain property searches - good access for Southern Andalucia and Las Alpujarras, Lecrin Valley and Granada City.

Notes on accommodation
All windows have wooden shutters. Both homes are furnished for full-time living, equipped with all kitchen essentials, quality furnishings, original pictures, books/DVDS, lamps etc. Electric/gas heaters for winter use and cooling fans for summer.
Cleaning is done for your arrival, beds made, complementary food/wine pack in the fridge. Linen and towels are provided, duvets in low season. Bring your own beach/pool towels. Use of folding beach chairs, cool box and umbrella available for picnics.
Pets allowed - please enquire - the owner has two friendly dogs (Ben & Jerry). Small extra charge.

Outside
Well established gardens, lush with palms, various fruit trees and flowering shrubs. Many terraces and patios with areas for 'al-fresco' dining in both sun and shade. Relax by the restful fountains. The gardens are illuminated at night and enjoyed into the early hours, stars always seem to be visible. Secure off-lane parking area. Swimming pool terrace with lovely outdoor kitchen overlooking the mature gardens. Ample garden furniture and loungers. In season pick citrus fruits, avocados, custard apples - useful herb patch by the BBQ terrace.

Coast/Beach
Mediterranean coast just 1km as the crow flies, 35 minute walk along dirt track. Motril's beaches (excellent seafood)are 2kms 5/10 minutes by car. Resort type beaches at Salobreña with facilities/International restaurants - 5kms.

45 mins - Alhendin - Santa Clara Golf complex 18 hole.

Skiing
SIERRA NEVADA Ski area (Solynieve) is the most Southerly in Europe & easily accessed from the Cortijo - good road, 75 mins. Snow is reliable from December - late April. Skiing is mainly intermediate with good beginners slopes, tuition & equipment hire. Many good shops, bars & restaurants make it an interesting day out for non-skiers in the group!

Travel
Malaga airport is 80 minutes west and Almeria airport is 80 minutes east. Granada Airport - just 1 hour to the properties. Ryanair and Monarch fly from Liverpool / Gatwick / Stansted.
On touring holiday could use Murcia / Jerez / Gibraltar or even Madrid & Alicante!
Car hire is essential to appreciate the many attractions of the area.
