The charming, unspoiled village of Maro (pop. 800) lies 3km east of the well-loved holiday town of Nerja. Maro's secluded beach, ideal for snorkelling, is reached by a winding road down the cliffs. The nearby Sierra Almijara provides excellent hill walking. If tranquility, accessibility and a hint of romance are what you're looking for, then this is the place for you. Part of a delightful small complex at the edge of the village, the apartment opens directly onto the attractive, sunny terrace and pool area. There are stunning views south to the sea.

Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds. Long winter lets available (min. 1 month) from 1 November - 31 March - only £410 per month (4 weeks).
Changeover day
Lets are generally Sunday to Sunday but we can usually be flexible. Arrival and departure times by arrangement.

Notes on accommodation
The apartment is non-smoking and no pets are allowed. WIFI access is available.
Accessibility
There is a small flight of steps leading to the entrance of the complex and 2 steps up to the front door of the apartment. Everything else is level, including inside the apartment, the garden area and swimming pool.
Outside
There are chairs, cushions, table and parasol available for private use on the terrace and communal area. Flowerbeds are dotted around the spacious outside area and there are 2 showers, plenty of sunbeds and ramped access to the large, attractive communal pool. Right on your doorstep and never too busy.
Coast/Beach
Maro's secluded beach can be accessed by a fairly steep winding road down the cliff, with a car park 2/3rds of the way down. An easy 10/15 mins walk from the apartment. Nerja's busier Burriana beach is a short bus journey away or half an hour's walk. There are lots of quiet coves to explore further up the coast.
Golf
The nearest golf course is Baviera Golf, a 15 minute drive away.
Skiing
Granada and the Sierra Nevada are only 1.5 hours away. In the winter months, why not stay on the coast and ski in the mountains? The best of both worlds.
Travel
Malaga Airport is approx 50 mins drive and Granada Airport approx. 1½ hour away. While not essential, a car would greatly add to your ability to explore this fascinating area. Buses leave frequently from Malaga airport for Nerja and Maro via Malaga bus station. There is a bus service to Nerja which stops directly outside the complex.
Distances
Nerja is 3km west. Frigiliana, an idyllic white mountain village is a further 3km. away. Almunecar is a 20 min drive east along the stunning coastal road and Granada a comfortable 1½ hour on an excellent road through the scenic mountains. Malaga itself is well worth a visit.
Further details
The village has a few small shops selling fresh bread, milk and necessary groceries and a couple of craft shops. There are 2 small hotels and a handful of family-run restaurants - one just outside the apartment complex. The famous Nerja caves are actually in Maro. There are also Roman ruins, intricate aqueducts and a fine village church which are all worth exploring. Or just wander the nooks and crannies of the village.

Hello, We are from Scotland and have lived in Nerja since 2005. Jim is retired and Jenny teaches English. We live only a short distance from the apartment and try to meet and greet personally as well as being on hand for any queries. Many of our guests return time and time again and love the apartment and the village of Maro. We consider them friends now. We will always do our very best to ensure you have a fantastic holiday. Why the owner chose an apartment in this location
We had bought a house on the east side of Nerja and knew we wanted an apartment nearby to rent out. We looked at many places but nothing had the "wow" factor we wanted. Then one rainy, windy Saturday afternoon we went to see the apartment at Maro Club. As soon as the gate to the complex opened we knew this was something special. We thought the apartment itself would have to be pretty awful to put us off. It wasn't in the best of states but we immediately saw the potential and decided on it there and then. The place blew us away in the rain - just imagine what it's like most of the time in the sun with blue skies, sparkling water and stunning views!
Unique benefits of the property
There is something special about the village of Maro itself and Maro Club has a unique charm. Quiet, peaceful but with very helpful neighbours of different nationalities. There's lots of room to sunbathe or daydream and swim in the large pool which is never busy, even in the height of summer. If you want something to eat, there is a bar/restaurant at the entrance and a few other small eateries/bars too. It's easier to get to know the locals here than in many other places in the area as life is at a slower pace. However, it isn't far to Nerja, by bus or car, where you'll find a more bustling lifestyle, but nothing like Benidorm!! Give it a go. We're sure you won't be disappointed.
