Established for 3 years now this comfortable and cosy cave house nestles beneath the ruins of the castle in the tranquil village of Bacor. It is surrounded by Almond and Olive Groves. There are outstanding views of the mountains. The cave has been lovingly restored by the owners, who live in the same village. Lake Negratin (which is 10 minutes by car) is 13 kms long and offers you swimming, fishing or walking. You could just sit by the waters edge and take in the outstanding beauty surrounding you. There are 4 restaurants situated around the lakeside. Granada, with its science museum and stunning Alhambra Palace is an hours drive away. Bacor has several well stocked shops, butchers and bakery. The nearest small shop is just 2 minutes walk away. The cave itself is situated on a quiet single track road.

Notes on prices
Book before January 2009 and get any available week for the very low rate of only 150 euros. Have 2009 holiday for 2008 prices. Long term lets are available for 1 month of more for the monthly rate of 400 euros this includes utility bills. Notes on accommodation
The rooms keep a constant temperature of 17c. For the cooler winter months wood is provided for the fire and a gas heater is also available. Air conditioning is not necessary as the cave is a lovely cool temperature all summer long.
Books, games are provided. Many maps and information leaflets. Hairdryer provided. Electricity, wood and gas bottles are all included in the rental price.

Outside
There is a large private gated courtyard with table and chairs, for the warmer days and nights. Barbecue. Parking is available in courtyard or the adjoining garage.
Coast/Beach
The nearest coast is just over 1 hours drive away in the Almeria area. Lake Negratin, which is 13 kms long is only 10 minutes away by car and this is where you can swim fish or just relax. On the far side of the lake at Cueves De Campo is a naturist area also.
Skiing
There is skiing and snowboarding available at Sierra Nevada, from mid/late December to mid/late April. 1 hours drive away approximately. More detailed information is available on request.
Travel
Granada airport 1 hours drive. Almeria airport 1½ hours.
Murcia airport 2 hours. Alicante and Malaga are both 2hrs.30mins away approx. Car hire is essential and is available at most airports.
Distances
The market town of Baza is 20 minutes drive and has supermarkets, pharmacies, banks, post offices, tourist information and also has a very large market on Wednesdays. Guadix is approx 30 minutes drive and has the usual shops, plus a large market on a Saturday. There are many interesting and ancient buildings to explore here and a wonderful cathedral. There are cave dwellings and museums. There is a neolithic burial site just moments away along the autovia. Visit the ancient cave houses at Baul.
Further details
In Bacor itself there are 3 grocery shops, a bakery, butchers and pharmacy. There is a cafe/bar which serves excellent local dishes. There is a market on a Sunday. The village is small but friendly and very traditional. If you sit outside in the courtyard on a warm summer's eve, you often get 1 or two neighbours, passing by and stopping to pass the time of day. The mules are still seen working here, and the goats are herded all over the village. There is plenty to see and do whether you prefer walking, bird watching, cycling, fishing, horse riding, sightseeing or something more adventurous like quad biking or para gliding. There is no shortage of good restaurants and eating places within a very short car drive of Bacor. All tried and tested. There are many walks in the village, details of which are available in the information pack, whether you want a short evening stroll or a 3 hour circular walk, with much flora and fauna to discover. Visit in June and join in the village fiesta. 3 days of fun and laughter. Visit in September and enjoy the fiesta in Baza all week long.
