Ayamonte, the old frontier town is 10 minutes away, with many interesting shops, fronts Guadiana river dividing Spain and Portugal, with it's opposite number Vila Real St Antonio.
Further details
Ayamonte has all you need. On Isla Canela there is also Punta Morel, a fishing port with good fish restaurants.
A good base from which to explore Andalusia and Portugal/Algarve. Motorway runs the full length now.

About the owner
We have owned a golf hotel in Cornwall for the last 14 years and bought our apartment for a nice place to go for holidays. Not just golf, as Anita doesn't even play! We looked at the Algarve, and ended up just inside Spain, as it represented better value and is an interesting area. We like to drive around by the river or nature/bird sanctuaries etc. We hope to retire shortly and make more use of the apartment ourselves.

Unique benefits of the property
Being on the top floor and end, we get great views from the terraces; the rear one looks across the 6th fairway and then across the marshes to the river and see. The Marina and Punta Morel offer nice bars and restaurants and we like to go across to Portugal or into Ayamonte to eat or shop. Visitors and owners get reduced green fees for golf.
