Our country villa is set in a small, tranquil Spanish village, in the Vinalopo valley surrounded by mountains, some 30 minutes from Alicante and beaches. The villa is in a peaceful and truly Spanish setting, yet the bustling town of Villena is only a few minutes drive - with all amenities, including many fantastic restaurants! The villa is an ideal place for walking, cycling, golfing or simply relaxing by the pool and enjoying the ambience of traditional Spain. However it also provides a comfortable and ideal base from which you can explore the surrounding area, being an hour's drive from the historic cities of Valencia and Murcia, and three hours from Madrid. In the centre of Las Virtudes, the village where the villa is situated, is a splendid church steeped in history. The area itself has much Moorish influence and every town in the area, including Villena, has its own castle, surrounded by narrow streets and whitewashed houses.

Notes on accommodation
Very suitable for children, lockable gated pool and whole residence is gated. Swings, games, books, pool table, bikes for all ages all at villa. Lots of surrounding ground for playing. Also very suitable for those who do not wish for stairs/inclines etc.

Coast/Beach
30 minutes' drive from Alicante beaches.
It is worth going a little bit further (another 15 minutes) to El Campello, a long white sandy beach, largely unspoilt, with an attractive promenade and shops/cafes.
Golf
Nearest golf course is 20 minutes' drive away. At least four other golf courses approx 45 minutes drive away.
Travel
Nearest airport is Alicante (approx. 30 minutes' easy drive on the main Madrid road).
Also Valencia airport (1 hour 10 minutes) and Murcia airport (1 hour 15 minutes). We would strongly recommend car hire.
Distances
Nearest town is Villena approx. 5 minutes drive away, with banks, restaurants, boutiques, supermarkets, pharmacies and hospital and local bodegas. Local markets well worth a visit (details in villa). Historic cities of Valencia and Murcia approx. 1 hour's drive away. For entertaining the children, the parks of Benidorm (water and theme parks) are about 50 minutes' drive away (easy motorway driving).
Further details
There are a couple of local bodegas selling their own produced wine at extremely good prices. There are many restaurants in the town - it is often easier to find them on foot as they can be tucked away! In the old part of the town of Villena stands the 'Castillo (castle) de Atalaya' with impressive views of the surrounding area of the Vinalopo valley flanked by mountains. There are two Gothic churches and the 'treasure of Villena' dating from the Bronze Age can be found in the Museum. The church of the patroness of the town, our Lady of the Virtues, is near the villa in Las Virtudes. There are some splendid walks in the area, particularly in the nearby town of Banyeres de Mariola. The town of Biar, with its castle, old square and some charming restaurants, is well worth a visit (15 minutes drive). The whole area is very popular with cyclists with some good routes.

Booking notes
Initial enquiry generates booking form. Non-refundable booking deposit of £100, together with breakage deposit of £100 (refundable upon return), secures the booking along with completed booking form. Details are also sent on the villa and surrounding area. A reminder is sent 8 weeks before departure that full monies are now due. On receipt of monies, keys and directions to villa are sent out.
