Santa Maria Antonia is a secluded villa, located in the glorious, wild countryside of the Serrania de Ronda. Close to the hilltop white village of Gaucin, it is about 1 hour inland from Gibraltar and has superb views down to the Mediterranean and the Rif Mountains of Morocco beyond. There is a shaded terrace with seating and dining areas. The swimming pool is set in a mature garden, with a terrace for sunbathing nearby.

The villa is self-catering. A hamper of essentials can be provided for your arrival on request. There is an English agent in the village and a maid who comes twice per week (or more with a little advance notice). Towels and linen are changed weekly. |
Notes on accommodation
Santa Maria Antonia is not very suitable for small children, having a steep flight of steps down to the swimming pool.
Outside
The villa has a shaded terrace, with magnificent views to the Mediterranean and Morocco, comfortable seating and a choice of dining areas. It has a private swimming pool (10m x 5m) with nearby sunbathing terrace, all set in a mature garden with ancient olive and carob trees.
Coast/Beach
The Mediterranean beaches of the Costa del Sol, and the Atlantic beaches of the Costa de la Luz, are within half an hour to an hour's drive of Gaucin.
Travel
Whilst the nearest airport is Gibraltar (1 hour), a new toll road along the coast means that Malaga is now only 90 minutes from Gaucin. Malaga is served by a vast choice of charter and schedule flights from several airports in the UK. The route is a very competitive one that offers good bargains. Car hire is essential and the drive to the villa is a simple one. We will provide full instructions. The journey from London usually takes less than 6 hours door to door.
Distances
The villa is approx 1km from Gaucin. The towns of Ronda, Gibraltar and Marbella are all within an hour's drive. Day or overnight trips can be made to Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, Jerez and Cadiz, and also to North Africa.
Further details
Gaucin is perhaps the prettiest of the famous white villages of southern Spain. Founded by the Moors in the 11th century, it has a fortified castle and narrow, vertiginous cobbled streets. There are no large hotels and no mass tourism. As a result, the village has retained a traditional Spanish flavour that is a world-away from the nearby Costa del Sol. Gaucin has a small supermarket (that barely justifies the term) and half a dozen charming restaurants, most with open-air terraces. There is magnificent hiking and birdwatching in the cork forests and mountainous countryside around Gaucin.
Booking notes
Santa Maria Antonia is available to let by the week from April to October inclusive. 50% non-returnable deposit required at the time of booking, and the remainder not less than 21 days prior to arrival.
