Notes on accommodation
This is a lovely light and airy Spanish home owned by an English lady who lives in Kenya and the lounge/dining-room has an attractive Kenyan theme. The house is looked after with particular care. Suitable for families.
Outside
Lovely large swimming pool and gardens across the road for the private use of Los Palmitos residents. This area has been renovated and upgraded recently and now has disabled persons access. It makes for a pleasant sunbathing area and is rarely busy.
Coast/Beach
Mediterranean sandy beach within 100m of the house.
Golf
Many golf courses of a high standard in the immediate area as well as the La Matta Tennis Club a short walk away from the house.
Mojacar Playa has 9km of sandy beaches, beach bars and play areas. Just pull off the beach road, park easily and jump into the sea!
Mojacar Pueblo (the Old Town) is about 5 km away, set in the foothills of the nearby Sierra Cabrera mountains. Steeped in moorish history, it is a spectacular sight, with cube-like white houses and a maze of cobbled streets packed with shops, bars and restaurants. The Plaza Nuevo is the main square from where there is the most spectacular view. The 14 century Santa Maria church is here too. At night, the whole place is like Fairyland.
Travel
Almeria Airport is one hour's drive to the house. From Murcia (San Javier) airport it's less than two hours and from Alicante airport it's two hours drive. Car hire is recommended and 'Do You Spain' offer very good rates. Otherwise a taxi to the house is fairly inexpensive and reliable. The local bus service along the Playa to the shops and restaurants and to Mojacar Old Town in the nearby hills is good and within 100m of the house.
Distances
Garrucha fishing port and small town is only 10 minutes from the house by car. Mojacar Old Town is only 5km from the house - it is a unique, dazzling white hilltop village overlooking the Mediterranean sea and backed by the Sierra Cabrera Mountains. Fascinating to explore the narrow streets, shops and restaurants. It looks like Fairyland at night!
Further details
Well stocked provision store within 100m of the house selling all the English daily and Sunday newspapers. Further up the Beach Road there is a fascinating and varied mixture of restaurants, coffee bars, beach bars, supermarkets, shopping centres, internet cafes, scooter, pedal bike and motor bike hire, scuba diving, sailing, paragliding and windsurfing centres. The Parque Commercial complex is the main meeting place for everyone. A green folder in the lounge contains contacts for the local amenities. Mobile phone reception is very good throughout the area.

Guests (many of them repeat clients) find the house comfortable, peaceful, well cared for and a perfect temperature. The house is suitable for older and younger guests alike, as it is positioned at the quieter end of the beach but sufficiently close to the amenities.

I am an English lady living and working in Nairobi, Kenya where I run a Travel business. My home town is Ambleside, Cumbria, in the UK, where I love to visit my 102 year old Gran, who is amazing! It gives me great pleasure to see people enjoying my house in Spain. For me and my family, spending time in Mojacar is unlike any other holiday we have had - and I have been on a few Kenyan Safaris in my time! There is something special about setting foot in my house in Mojacar and feeling the stresses of life ooze out of you! Apart from the fact that the house is fully equipped, it's great to put on your shorts and walk down to the beachfront, just a short walk from the house, and purchase The Sun newspaper and a bottle of Vino! It's then that you know your holiday has begun!
Why the owner chose a home in this location
I decided to do a tour of the East and South Coasts of Spain one Summer in search of my perfect property. I hired a car and followed my nose, not knowing what to expect. Mojacar really caught my attention. I like the uniqueness, from a holiday perspective, of the Playa versus the Old Town. There is so much to enjoy and take in, whether you choose to have an evening on the Playa or up in the Old Town.
Unique benefits of the property
My heart was set on this house from day one! I liked its brightness, freshness and south facing warmth. The views from the roof terrace are fantastic - the sea to your left and the mountains to your right. Most unique of all is the fact that the beautiful, and well kept, pool and garden area are set across from the house. The pool area is rarely busy so often times you have the place to yourself. Then when when you want a quiet afternoon siesta back at the house, you can enjoy that too! Anyway, let me not sell it to you any more! You have to see it to believe it!
