Our detached cottage is located on a hillside in an olive grove and has a pretty private terrace at a beautiful location 45 mins west of Granada. Situated along a very good lane through olive growing country it has a shaded parking area and is an ideal location for those seeking space and tranquility for their holiday or perhaps a honeymoon. The cottage is a little haven away from it all but ideally located for exploring the picturesque white villages and historic cities of Granada and Cordoba. From the cottage terrace and the sunny private pool terrace the panoramic views are stunning,an array of mountain ranges can be seen as far as Granada. Through the olive groves Bee eaters, hoopoe, golden oriel and eagles are regularly spotted and the location is perfect for outdoor pursuits such as walking, riding, mountain biking, painting or just drinking in the culture of rural Spain. The property has been awarded an Tourism licence by the Andalucian tourist board.

Notes on accommodation
The casita has a wood burning stove to ensure creature comforts for the occasional chilly evening in early spring and winter months. No extra costs for heating fuel in the Winter months. Pets accepted at the discretion of the owner.Please advise before booking.
Accessibility
The cottage is on one level from the path outside, to the terrace and the interior of the casita.
The bathroom has a large walk in shower and the cottage itself is very spacious for two people.We think it is suitable for guests with difficulty managing steps.
Outside
The pool area offers real privacy and is a fantastic sun trap as it is built behind a high stone wall. The tiled pool is 10 x 5 metres with Roman steps at one end. On the sunny south facing terrace you will find sun loungers, table and chairs for alfresco dining. For your comfort there is a poolside shower set onto the terrace and a wooden pergola at one end for shade from the hot sun. Wonderful views over the valley and as far as the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges of Granada.The terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the warm evenings and gaze at the night sky alive with twinkling stars.
Coast/Beach
The beach at lake Iznajar is about 30 minutes drive.This is a pretty area of natural beauty shaded by pine trees and a great place to picnic or have a drink at the lakeside hotel or bar.
Towards Malaga the beaches and the coast are just over an hour away. South of Granada the coastline of Costa Tropical , a very beautiful area with lots of quiet coves and beaches,about 1 hr 30 min by car.
Golf
Antequera and Granada both offer wonderful Golf. Travel time about 1 hour. A more information is available at the casita.
Skiing
The casita is situated about 2 hours drive from the Sierra Nevada ski slopes of Granada where good skiing is possible until March depending on weather.
Special interest holidays
The area has an amazing bird population especially in the spring months of March, April, May then later in October and November.We have reference books for birders available.
The area is fabulous for walking and has a stunning array of wild flowers during April,May and June,some of them quite rare such as the "bee orchid ".We have spotted 6 varieties of Orchid within a kilometre of the casita.
Mountain bikes can be hired by the day at the casita. There are plenty of off road lanes to test your stamina and ability or to just explore and enjoy. Please let us know your requirements when booking.
Travel
Malaga airport is 1 hour 30 minutes. Granada airport 45 minutes. Car hire is essential and can be hired through Malaga airport. We will send detailed directions at the time of booking. The town of Loja has a good public transport network of trains and buses to Granada, the coast and inland Spain.
Distances
Granada City and the fantastic Alhambra palace 50 minutes by car with very easy access and parking. The coast of Malaga and the Picasso museum an hour away. Cordoba and the Mezquita less than 2 hours. Much closer to the cottage are numerous historic places of historic interest including white villages, Neolithic settlements and Roman ruins. The white village of Algarinejo is less than 15 minutes,well provided with shops, bars, pharmacy, Saturday market and an award winning restaurant "piolas".
Further details
Local shops for groceries are at nearby La Vina which is 5 minutes away or at Algarinejo, Zagra and Ventorros all less than 15 mins away. Alternatively, visit the weekly markets for locally grown produce. Fresh home made bread available daily, delivered to your door for breakfast time. We have a small honesty store of useful provisions for our guests. A welcome pack is provided on arrival together with an information folder on places to visit, restaurants, historic sites and maps etc. The local white villages have numerous bars and restaurants.
The area is excellent for walking, cycling and bird watching, we have printed guides of the local area. The casita is near to a well signed rural footpath which takes in many areas of natural beauty, flora and fauna.
The area is rich in archaeological history with evidence of ancient cave dwellings and dolmans and one of the best preserved Roman villas we have seen all within a 30 minute drive.
The Summer months are wonderful for local fiestas, giving visitors a real insight into the true rural Spain.

We found this paradise in 2006 and have been returning ever since.The location is stunning,with panoramic breathtaking views across the rolling landscape.There are walks,local villages and towns with restaurants,shops,cafes,larger attractions are within reach,but also,and this is what we wanted,peace and tranquility in abundance it is unbelievably relaxing.Cheryl and George are wonderful hosts,achieving the perfect balance.We couldn't recommend the casita enough"
