El Escondite means the Hideaway & this detached cottage is hidden away amidst olive trees, on the top of an embankment where the river once ran. It has beautiful views along the valley & to the southern mountains which catch the sunset in the evening. This 1 bedroom cottage has been built in traditional Alpujarran style & with its secluded, peaceful position & private spa is ideal for honeymoons & special holidays. El Palomar means the Dovecote, but the doves have flown! This 1 bedroom cottage, also in the local style is light and spacious inside. It too has views of the southern mountains and is ideal for a relaxing holiday for couples. The small town of Orgiva has plenty of shops and a busy Thursday morning market. It is in a broad green valley of fruit and olive trees, you can go horse riding, walking, bird watching, skiing or spend your time relaxing. The Alhambra in Granada is 1 hour away and the beaches can be reached in 35 min.
El Escondite - The Hideaway

Bathroom with wc, basin, large shower with glass doors.
Fully equipped kitchen with granite work tops, fridge, gas hobs, electric oven, toaster and washing machine.
Living room, light and spacious with CD player, sofa, chairs, coffee table, book shelves, games, dining room table and chairs and a wood burning fire for the winter months. TV for DVD playing only. A door leads out on to the patio, private spa pool and garden.

You can park next to each of the cottages and apart from one step at the entrance all the accommodation is on the ground floor. I am sorry but the cottages have not been constructed for wheelchair users.
Escondite has a covered patio with views to the east & south with sun loungers. There's a spa/jacuzzi pool outside where you can relax and admire the view or gaze at the stars surrounded by olive trees.
Palomar has a large patio and grounds with olive & fruit trees, with views of the southern mountains.
Both cottages have their own separate grounds and patios with table, chairs and barbecue.
The pool is approx 20 meters away from Palomar and 50 meters from Escondite, it is 1.4m deep and approximately 9m x 5m at its largest. It is filtered and kept clean by the use of an ionizer and has an underwater seating area. There are 2 separate sunbathing terraces next to the pool with sun loungers and parasols plus a shower. The pool is open all year but isn't heated.
The spa for Escondite is also available all year and is heated.
Important notes on accommodation
The cottages have double glazing and insulation; both have wood burners so are suitable for winter holidays. There are fans for summer and electric fires for winter. Good quality bed linen and towels are provided for inside, but please bring your beach towels for the pool and spa.
A cot can be provided for guest of el Palomar.
Well behaved pets may be accepted at a small charge, please enquire.

Notes on prices
Payment can be in euros or pounds. Please enquire about price for longer lets. If we accept your small dog, then a charge will be made.
Sundays from mid July to the end of August but other times are flexible. We ask guests to vacate the cottages by 10.30am on departure day and arrive from 3.30pm.
Prices shown are for 2 people. A 20% non-returnable deposit is required to confirm booking and the balance is due 6 weeks before the start of holiday. Payments can be made into a UK or Spanish bank account or by cheque to a UK address.
Well behaved pets may be accepted, please ask.

About the area
The beaches at Salobreņa and Motril are 35/40 minutes by car.
How to get there
Granada airport is an hour and Malaga airport is 1 and threequarter hours away.
We would advise booking a hire car which can be collected on arrival at the airport, but you can get to Orgiva by bus or pre-arranged taxi pick up.
Orgiva with its shops, banks, bars, internet cafe and restaurants is a 20 minute walk or a few minutes drive away.
The Alhambra and the historic city of Granada is less than an hour.
The owners live a few minutes drive from the cottages.

What an amazing week! El Escondite is all we hoped for and more! It really is as lovely and secluded as promised in the 'blurb'. We will remember the spa pool with its beautiful setting: sitting in the warm bubbles under a blue sky or a full moon with clouds passing by.
Well we've been to Orgiva many times but it's our first time at El Escondite. It's probably the best equipped casita we've stayed in and the hot tub makes all the difference when it's cold outside! After a day's walking there is nothing better than jumping into that tub! (I'll tell all my friends).
About the Owner
We've lived near Orgiva since October 1998. We came to visit friends in the May of that year, saw a house we liked, made an offer, and moved here! We're very happy that we did so.

Why this location?
We bought the land in 2001 as it gave us the opportunity to design and build el Escondite, taking advantage of the wonderful views. El Palomar was originally the farmer's store but has been extended and much improved! We love the freedom of the area, the mountains and the feeling of space.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
We don't live at the cottages but our guests enjoy the views, quietness, the pools and the fruit trees. Many have said that they've had the best night's sleep for years. We live a little further down the lane, so are on hand should you need any help.
