Casa Petirrojo is a spacious village house in Padul at the head of the Lecrin Valley, in an outstanding position for exploring the surrounding areas or simply a quiet relaxing holiday. We are 20 mins from Granada, the home of Flamenco and the Moorish Alhambra Palace; we are 45 mins from the Sierra Nevada ski resort which is suitable for all ages; and we are 30 mins from the coast where the coastal towns of Salobrena, Almunecar and Castell de Ferro offer many beachside restaurants. Almunecar also has an aqua-park. Further along the coast road at La Herradura there are many water sports available and further still along the coast is the English enclave of Nerja which at its famous caves holds concerts and operas throughout July. We are also within easy reach of the high Alpujarran villages where you can purchase local handmade rugs, jamon serrano and local wines.

Changeover day
We offer a flexible booking system whereby you can arrival and depart on the days of your choice, providing we have the availability. However, we are unable to cater for arrivals at the house after 10.30pm.

All bedding is provided, along with house towels (not beach). The property will be cleaned prior to your arrival. The pool will be cleaned at least once a week during your stay and we will also provide a meet and greet service for your arrival. |

Outside
Leading off from the kitchen there is a large patio with a free-standing chimenea and table and seating for 6, where a large fig tree gives all day shade. From the patio, via a lockable gate (for young children's safety), there is a sun area with an outside shower beyond which is an 8m x 4m private swimming pool where sunbeds and parasols are provided. The garden is very private. Upstairs, accessible from the master bedroom is a 30 sq.m. roof terrace with lovely views of the town and surrounding countryside. Table and chairs provided.
Coast/Beach
The Costa Tropical is an easy drive on good roads, try Salobrena, Almunecar or Castell de Ferro, or any number of hidden beaches along the way. This is how the Costa del Sol used to be! There are many excellent restaurants in the Spanish speaking resorts.
Golf
There are 3 golf courses within 30 minutes drive. One in Granada which is due to open in 2007, one on the coast at Motril and one approx 15 minutes away from the house.
Skiing
The Sierra Nevada ski resort is 45 minutes drive away on good roads. The resort has good snow cover, plus plenty of snow-making equipment and is open December to April. There are hire shops, bars and hotels, and the resort caters for all ages and skiing abilities. Lessons can be booked via the internet.
Travel
Ryanair and Monarch both fly into Granada airport 25 mins away. Malaga airport 90 mins. Car hire is desirable and available at both airports (pre-booking recommended) to fully appreciate the area. There is an excellent local bus service from the town, plus coaches from Malaga to Granada and buses\taxis from Granada to Padul. All the coaches out of Malaga are air-conditioned and travel time is same as by car.

Padul village 10 mins walk. Granada 15 mins. Alpujarras 25 mins. Ski resort 45 mins. Coast 30 mins.
Further details
In Padul there are banks, a medical centre, dentists, chemists. The bars which provide tapas with drinks, restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, etc., all within a 10 minute walk or less from the house. Padul is the second largest village in the Lecrin Valley, as yet unspoilt, with plenty of restaurants, bars and an interesting Friday market from 10am - 2pm. There are 3 main fiestas\ferias in Padul in January, at Easter and at the end of September. Padul Laguna is renowned for its flora and fauna, there is excellent walking, bird-watching, rambling, cycling and horse riding in the area.

A 25% non-refundable deposit is required on booking. The full balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival.
