Renovated farnhouse set on a 20 acre farm in a secluded valley just outside the village of Bitem, Tortosa in Southern Catalonia. Finca Margarita is south facing and enjoys the sun for most of the day. It also offers spectacular sunsets down the valley. Outside there are a mixture of maintained and wild terraces, a landscaped sun terrace and pool area, a patio area with seating and shaded barbecue area. Here you can relax, put your feet up and take in the views of the Ebro Valley and National Park beyond. There is plenty of space for children to play and explore. The farm consists of around 200 olive trees and others being, carobs, almonds, figs, pine trees and vines.

Changeover day
Changeover days are usually Saturdays, however, flexibility is important and we aim to fit in and to suit your requirements. Arrival time is requested to be 4pm and departure 10am, however, we can be flexible with prior notice.

Accessibility
Owing to the position of the farmhouse the property,we feel, is not suitable for wheelchair access.

Outside
There is a large, stone built barbecue on the terrace which offers stunning views down the valley. Sun loungers and quality wooden furniture are positioned for shade around the terraces and pool area. The farm is situated in a secluded valley of approx 20 acres. Nearly 300 olive, carob, fig and mulberry trees are planted amongst maintained and wild terraced areas of herbs, grasses and vines.

Coast/Beach
The unspoilt and uncrowded beaches of the Costa Dorada and Ebro delta are a 30 minute drive whilst the river Ebro itself is a 5 minute drive, the walk however will take about 30 minutes and will take you through peach, orange, cherry and clementine plantations.

Special interest holidays
For something a little different we have a local artist who runs a small workshop.Lorna has 25 years teaching experience and is dedicated to providing you with all you need to enjoy a painting holiday here in Catalonia.
Because of our position overlooking the River Ebro she can offer you the chance to capture it's fantastic array of wildlife,majestic scenery and architecture on paper or canvas.
For example, in Ferbruary we have the simply stunning Almond Blossom and mid spring time the terraces are awash with wild flowers,orange blossom and migrating birds namely the blues and golds of the Bee eaters which fly in from north Africa,the local architect dates back to the time of the Moorish invaders and the crusades

Half and full day boat fishing excursions for the famous Wels catfish can be arranged with the local guide.Bank fishing and tackle hire is also available.

Travel
The area is serviced by 2 major airports, Barcelona and Valencia, both are approximately 1 hour 40 minutes away. Reus is smaller and more popular and is serviced by Ryanair from Liverpool and Stansted and is about 50 minutes away. Car hire is essential and they can be picked up at all the airports. We also offer pick up and return from the airport, details and prices on request.

Distances
The local bars and shops in the village of Bitem are about 1 kilometre away whilst the more quality bars, restaurants and shops of Tortosa are about a 10 minute drive away.

Further details
Tortosa is a city, albeit a very small city, it is home to a university, a castle, a daily and weekly market offering all the local produce available in the area. 3 supermarkets, various banks, a selection of local and foreign restaurants, fashionable shops and even an 'Irish bar' can be found, all within close walking distance. The river Ebro runs through the centre of the town (city) and has three bridges which at night are all lit up.
Sports facilities abound especially along the many promenades on the river with rowing, sailing and of course fishing for the famous Catfish being the main interests.

Booking notes
A 25% deposit is payable within 7 days of your booking. The balance is requested 8 weeks prior to your holiday commencement. Details, information and directions will be sent upon receipt of the balance. Welcome packs and daily cleaning service are available upon request.
