Notes on accommodation
Care has been taken to maintain the traditional Spanish feel of the original finca with wooden beams and rustic floor tiles throughout. Thick walls and shutters keep the inside cool in the summer months. The owners have selected various decorations from their travels in Latin America and Africa to add something special to this charming property. No pets allowed.

Outside
The 6m x 3m pool to the side of the house with sun loungers and parasol is the ideal place to unwind, soak up the sun and take a cooling dip. Four separate terraces offer plenty of space to relax in groups or alone. There is good space for 8 to sit and eat at the main table on the covered terrace just outside the living room and kitchen. The brick built BBQ is situated nearby.
There is a further terrace down some steps for serious sunbathers or a safe place for children to play in the cooler parts of the day.
Another, smaller, shady terrace with hammock under a mature Algarrobo tree is ideal for siestas. Further steps bring you down to the cortijo bedroom with its own terrace.
As the owners have small children, particular attention has been paid to safety. The pool and terraces have fencing and gates which can be bolted when required. Parking space for up to 3 cars.
Coast/Beach
25 minutes drive to Torre del Mar. A wide selection of beaches in each direction from there.
Travel
Malaga airport is 1 hour. Car hire is recommended. Cars can be hired via email. There is an air conditioned bus service from Competa to Malaga, via the coast, 3 times a day. It is simple to take a taxi from airport to Competa. Alternatively, collection at airport can be arranged.

Finca El Cerrillo, is a charming, traditional, fully renovated 150 year old house enjoying all modern facilities. Relax by the private pool, enjoying the peaceful valley setting and wonderful views to the sea.
The old mountain village of Competa, cradled in the foothills of the Sierra Almijara mountains, retains its Spanish culture. You can walk (30 mins) or drive into this typical, lively Andalucian village and enjoy exploring its narrow streets. Relax at one of the many restaurants or bars and watch the bustling village life. A particular feature is the charming village square with friendly restaurants, church, fountain and indoor market. In the village there are a good range of shops including 2 supermakets, banks, payphone, a saturday market, craft shops and a fine selection of restaurants.
Leisure activities available include horse riding, tennis, and golf and water sports at the coast. There are excellent opportunities for hill walking in the immediate area, especially recommended in the cooler months, and a guide can be arranged. Places of interest in the region include the nearby caves at Nerja, the world famous Alhambra in Granada (1.5 hours drive), Malaga and Seville. Good skiing available in the Sierra Nevada mountains, 1.5 hours drive from Competa. Guide books and information about the local area are available for use in the house.
