Tarragona is just an hour south of Barcelona and is a vibrant, modern city with an ancient history, beautiful beaches and relaxed atmosphere. It was the old Roman capital of Spain and the cultural history of the city unfolds not only in its museums but also in its architecture. Elegant and lofty historical ruins intermingle with medieval squares and modern boulevards.
Continental café culture is rife in Tarragona and there are numerous, exquisitely located places to eat. The main boulevard (Rambla Nova) is wide, pedestrianised, tree-lined and flanked by cafés, bars, restaurants and shops. On and around the Rambla are most of the well-known Spanish-brand clothes labels.

Coast/Beach
The city beach is less than a 5 minute walk from the apartment. A 20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus ride further down the coast, the beaches are more typically Mediterranean with golden sands, azure seas and beach bars.
Travel
Reus is the nearst airport, being less than 10km away (an 18 euro cab ride).
Distances
You do not need a car in Tarragona as all the main attractions are easily accessible by foot. There are also good train and bus links for day trips to Stiges, Cambrills, Girona, and Barcelona which is an hour away by train. The Universal Studios theme park, Port Aventura, is nearby in Salou.
Further details
The apartment is located opposite the cathedral, right in the centre of the old quarter and there are numerous shops, banks, restaurants, grocers, fishmongers in the immediate vicinity.
Booking notes
Payment will be accpeted in either sterling or Euros. A 'breakages' deposit of £150 is required which will be returned if no damage is reported.
