About the owner
Hello, I am David Isaacs, I took voluntary redundancy from British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL) at Sellafield, near Whitehaven, West Cumbria, UK in November 1999 and moved to Orgiva of the Las Alpujarras, Sierra Nevada, Andalucia Spain, where we renovated the farmhouse. We have took a pride in the renovation, which we have attempted to do tastefully with the comfort of residents in mind.
Year purchased: 1999
Why the owner chose a house / villa (old name) in this location
Orgiva, our town of the Las Alpujarras, Sierra Nevada, Andalucia Spain, was obvious to us a unique location, in that it is convenient for vastly varying locations, for example only 20km from the beach, Salobreña, only 20 minutes from the spectacular mountain villages such as Capileira, Bubion, Pampineira and Trevelez etc, 50 minutes from the historical city of Granada with the Alhambra Palace and Cathedral etc and 75 minutes from the Sierra Nevada Ski resort. Also Orgiva (just 200 metres from the cortijo) itself is an unspoilt typically Spanish town with an array of interesting bars, cafes, restaurants, shops, weekly market, children's play area, cinema etc and all facilities, banks, IT cafe etc.
Unique benefits of the property
"El Olivo" is quite unique in that it is situated in a tranquil location with a large garden and swimming pool, on the edge of Orgiva town, but is convenient for all amenities (shops, bars, restaurants, banks etc), the best of both worlds, ie peace and tranquility and access to all facilities. The cortijo has been renovated with the comfort of residents in mind, for example a special insulated roof was installed, which means it is 5 to 6 C cooler in the hot summer months, than a house with a traditional roof, the swimming pool is mosaic tiled with a state of the art water treatment system, there is a 2 acre garden with olive and fruit trees where you can loose yourself and seek solitude if you wish.
