Casa Hoopoe is a spacious 2 bedroom bungalow set within Finca Las Golondrinas. Both bedrooms, one double and one with twin beds have en suite shower rooms. The lounge opens out on to a shaded patio area with steps leading up to the roof solarium which offers panoramic views over the countryside. Notes on accommodation
The English owners, Pat and John, live in the main house of Las Golondrinas and are on hand to ensure that you have a wonderful, relaxing holiday. You can enjoy your favourite tipple in the residents bar at the end of the day and snacks and evening meals are available on request. Enjoy good home cooking with a choice of English, Mediterranean or vegetarian menu using fresh ingredients and local Murcian wines.
Accessibility
The accommodation is fully wheelchair accessible, some rooms have level access showers for wheelchair users. There is also a hoist available if required. The pool and garden area is fully wheelchair accessible as there are no steps and there is a pool hoist for guests with mobility issues. The resident English owners have a wheelchair accessible minibus for airport transfers and excursions.
Outside
The 8x4m solar heated pool is for the use of guests staying in the villa and is open from May to October: The pool area has been screened with an insect screen for the comfort of our guests. Within the garden area are sun terraces and shady spots. Barbecue, sun loungers and garden furniture are provided in the pool area.
Coast/Beach
The beautiful, sandy, blue flag beaches of Puerto de Mazarron are within a half hour drive. It is a lively place with plenty of bars and shops.
The well known beaches of La Manga and the Mar Menor are also within a 45 minute drive
Golf
Hacienda del Alamo (18 hole) and Camposol (18 hole) golf courses are within a 15 minute drive, although Mosa Trajectum Johan Cruyff golf and sports resort and the exclusive La Manga Club are within a half hours drive.
Special interest holidays
We are now offering well being breaks for those who want to enjoy a little self indulgence and pampering. We have a local, mobile, qualified holistic therapist who offers a range of therapies such as massage, aromatherapy and reflexology and beauty treatments such as non surgical face lifts, manicure and pedicure.
Travel
Murcia (San Javier) airport is a 45 minute drive. Alicante airport is 90 minutes away. The resident English owners have a minibus for airport transfers and excursions so car hire isn't essential.
Distances
La Pinilla is walking distance (about 2km) or a 5 minute drive.

Fuente Alamo, a small market town - 15 minutes
The regional national park of the Sierra Espuñas - 30 minutes
City and port of Cartagena - 30 minutes
Further details
There are 2 bars and a general store in La Pinilla although a baker delivers to the hamlet daily except Sunday and a mobile shop comes twice weekly. Fuente Alamo is quite a good shopping centre and has an excellent market on Saturdays.
Cartagena is one of the oldest cities on the Mediterranean, where you can visit one of the many museums, view the old port from the tourist catamaran, tour the city on the open topped tourist bus or just sit at one of the bars along the front watching the cruise liners coming in.

About the owner
My name is Pat and I am a retired nurse. My husband John was an engineer. We moved from the UK to France in 1995 where we ran a 'chambre d'hote' with facilities for disabled guests. We then decided to move to Spain where we could offer better weather throughout the year. We have now lived here for 6 years and it is great to see so many of our guests coming back time and again. We like to think that we make our guests feel at home, whether they are self catering or staying on a half board basis and we are always on hand to ensure the smooth running of their holiday.

Why the owner chose a guest house in this location
We bought in this area as it is peaceful but not isolated and gives our guests a chance to explore the real Spain. It can be very noisy right on the coast in the Summer months and we are near enough to be able to go 'where the action is' but far enough away to be able to sleep at night.
We can radiate out to many places of interest such as golf courses, mountains, blue flag beaches, cities with thousands of years of culture and modern shopping precincts. There is something for everyone to enjoy within a 30 minute drive.

We are only 45 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the nearest motorway exit.
John and I are always on hand to ensure the smooth running of your holiday and give advice on local places of interest to visit.
We run a poolside bar so that at the end of a days sight seeing you can chill out with your favourite tipple.
We have ensured that each house and the grounds are suitable for guests with mobility issues.
We also have a minibus for airport transfers and excursions and John is available on a daily basis to take guests where they want to go, thus avoiding finding your way around strange places, trying to find somewhere to park and if you fancy stopping off at a bar, no worries about drinking and driving.
