The farmhouse is within 5 minutes drive or 30 minutes country walk of this historic village in the Gredos foothills, one of Spain's most attractive and undiscovered landscapes. The house is very bright and spacious and sits in its own 10 acre olive and fig orchard. The village has 500 inhabitants, several small food shops and restaurants. The Gredos mountains are just behind the village (great walking) and there are many villages and small towns to visit locally. The area is famous for its local products, such as olive oil, figs and paprika. There are many local fiestas of cultural interest during the year. The delightful historic towns of Trujillo and Caceres are within 30 minutes and 80 minutes' drive respectively. Monfragüe Natural Park (a mecca for bird watchers) is 45 minutes away. Local companies offer walking, riding and canoeing trips.

Notes on prices
Prices are per week for 2 persons in UK Pounds. Price for 2 persons is for use of the whole house but assumes use of only one bedroom and bathroom.
For additional persons add 110 pounds per week per person. Children under 3 years old half price. For shorter lets, please ask for prices.
Changeover day
Flexible. We ask you to arrive no earlier than 16.00 p.m. and to vacate the house before 11.00 a.m. to give us time to prepare for the next guests.

Notes on accommodation
The house uses solar electricity, from a large set of panels and batteries. All electrical appliances work normally and you can plug in laptops. There is a back-up generator but you are very unlikely to need it.
Heating is wood-burning stoves, linked to radiators. This is also heats the hot water tank when there is no sun. If you are staying from about October-April inclusive, you need to be at ease lighting and operating wood-burning stoves.
Accessibility
There are two bedrooms and all other facilities on the ground floor, so groups of upto 4 people do not need to use the stairs.
Outside
East and south facing terraces, 10 acres of orchard and woodland to wander in. Short walk through woodland down to the mountain river. The village has excellent outdoor swimming pools (3 pools) set in gardens with a bar and restaurant 5 mins drive from the house. Open only July and August.

Travel
Madrid is the nearest airport, approximately 2.5 hours by car (recommended). There is also a bus direct from Madrid to Cuacos (a 4 hour trip, but very scenic). Note that public transport in the area is rather limited. Ryanair fly to Valladolid, which is about 3-4 hours by car.
Distances
The historic towns of Trujillo and Caceres are within 30 mins and 80 mins respectively, by car. The Monfragüe Natural Park is 45 minutes by car.
Further details
Guided nature walks, horse riding and canoeing are all on offer locally. The whole region of Extremadura is a paradise for bird watching.
Booking notes
A deposit of £100 is requested on booking, by bank transfer (to UK or Spanish bank) or UK cheque. The remainder should be paid two weeks before arrival.
