The apartment is set in tranquil surroundings and is strategically situated within the heartland of the Catalonian region. The accommodation is surrounded by the imposing peaks of the Pyrenees and set within lush green forests. The immediate landscape reflects the verdant terrain of the Garrotxa, a National Park that experienced volcanic activity in years gone by. The local area surrounding Can Cruanyes is steeped in medieval history and atmosphere. It is littered with villages boasting rambling narrow streets, beautiful churches and various bars and restaurants. Must see places of interest are Besalu (10 mins) with its imposing twelfth century fortified bridge and Figueres (25mins) where its famous son Salvador Dali was born still appeals to thousands of visitors every year. 5 mins drive from Can Cruanyes you have secluded rock pools to take a dip or Joseph's labyrinth which both the young and old can puzzle over. The pituresque lake of Banyoles is only 15 mins.

Changeover day
During July & August the following changeover days apply. All other months / seasons are flexible. 3 bedroom apartment (Gaudi) - Saturday. 2 bedroom apartment (Picasso) - Friday. 1 bedroom apartment (Dali) - Friday.

This apartment accommodates up to 7 people and consists of 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and an open plan kitchen / living room.
The kitchen and living room are joined together to form one large spacious area. The kitchen and living room have original vaulted ceilings. Off the living area, there is a large outdoor terrace that looks into an adjacent lush forest and can be used for some alfresco dining.
The kitchen is equipped with all mod cons (washing machine, oven, hobs, microwave, fridge/freezer etc). The apartment is also wheelchair accessible. TV with free to air channels (BBC, ITV etc) and DVD with some dvds provided for your leisure.
The largest bedroom can be arranged as a triple bedroom or a master king size with single bed on your request There is a small patio off this bedroom for sitting out.
The other 2 bedrooms are doubles with one being an ensuite. Both bedrooms have original vaulted ceilings.

This apartment accommodates up to 4 people and consists of 2 bedrooms, one bathroom, one wc and an open plan kitchen/living room.
The kitchen is equipped with all mod cons (washing machine, microwave, oven, hob, fridge/freezer etc).
Just off the kitchen is the living room with original vaulted ceilings. The large windowed doors give a nice view into the adjacent lush green forest. In the corner of the living room is a elevated stove for those colder months.
The larger bedroom can be arranged as a twin bedroom or a master kingsize on your request. This room also contains original vaulted ceilings with original Catalan window sash looking out into the adjacent lush forests. The smaller bedroom contains vaulted ceilings and Catalan window sash.
Directly outside the apartment is a terrace ideal for alfresco dining with forest and mountain views.

The 1 bedroomed apartment has an open plan kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is equipped with all mod cons (washing machine, oven, hob, fridge/freezer etc). TV with free to air satellite channels is also available (BBC, ITV etc). For those colder months there is an elevated wood burning stove.
The bedroom has a Catalan window sash looking out onto the front of the house with adjacent forest and paddock.
Outside the apartment is a small decking ideal for alfresco dining with mountain view.

Accessibility
For those with special needs, such as wheelchair access, the 3 bedroom apartment has been modified to cater for visitors with disabilities.

Outside
A large communal swimming pool (10m x 5m) is available to all who stay at Can Cruanyes. The house is located on 20 acres of land with plenty of space for children to play in the garden around the pool or front paddock. We also have swings, swing ball and sandpit for both the young and young at heart!

Coast/Beach
The visitor wishing to relax on the beach will be spoilt for choice as there are numerous beaches dotted along the coast. The Costa Brava with its long sandy beaches is less than an hours drive from Can Cruanyes, and its resorts have everything the dedicated sun worshipper could need. St. Pere de Pescadora beach is only 45 minutes drive from Can Cruanyes. There are also numerous small coves and beaches for those seeking a quieter day by the sea or wishing to visit a traditional village.

Golf
25 minutes to nearest Golf course Torremirona.

Travel
Girona Airport - 45km, Barcelona airport - 90km. Girona Railway Station -35km. Nearest motorway junction A26- 5km. Car is recommended.

Distances
Besalu (15km) is a 10th and 11th century town with picture postcard beauty. Tortella (3km) is our local quaint village. Castellfollit de la Roca (15km) clings dangerously to the side of a cliff, observing the Riu Fluvia below. Olot (25km) is a vibrant, friendly town and worth a visit. The town of Figueres (25km) is famous for its son Salvador Dali and appeals to thousands of visitors every year. Girona (35km) is a beautiful old town housing a wealth of Romanesque and Gothic buildings.

Further details
Tortella is where one can do their basic grocery shopping while Olot less than half an hour away has a number of larger supermarkets and Besalu (10 mins) has a supermarket also. Walking: As well as walks from Sadernes, Beget and further into the Pyrenees there are a few walks that run close to Tortella and Can Cruanyes itself. There are also plenty of water sport centres along the coast in Lloret de Mar, Tossa de Mar, L'Escala, Platja D'Aro, Roses, Cadaques, Llanca and the Cap de Creus.
Horse riding: There are many equestrian centres in the area with some treks taking in some beautiful scenery.
Cycling: recently on the route of the Tour de France the area is famed amongst cyclists. Bike rental can be arranged locally and there is an abundance of on and off road cycling trails in the area. There is a cycle path all the way from Olot to the coast which is great for all ages.
Wildlife and birdwatching: this area has a very lush and diverse plant life, with woods of holm oak and beech. This has in turn led to a greatly varied animal and bird life.
Hotair ballooning: for the highly adventurous there is the option of a hot-air balloon ride that will transport you over the yawning craters of the volcanic region.

My husband and I stayed at Can Cruanyes at the beginning of May.A lovely
apartment well furnished and finished off. Quite and relaxing. the perfect
location for both visits to the coast and further into the mountains where some
serious 'wow' locations can be found. Olot indoor food market frequented
seemingly only by locals at the foot of the steps to the church is real eye
opener. Selling only artisan produce produced by locals. If you are foodies,a
must.Donny and Siobhan generous and thoughtful hosts. Definitely recommend this
place to anyone. Take your own empty two litre water bottle in to the village
and fill it with wine on tap for less than 3 Euros. How about that! A holiday
we will never forget.
