This delightful rustic villa is conveniently located just 10 mins drive from the pretty hillside village of Competa, known locally as the Pearl of the Axarquia. Sitting in a prominent hillside setting surrounded by the Almajara and Tejeda mountain ranges, with simply stunning views from all around the villa. A beautiful kidney shaped pool provides a refreshing haven from the heat of the midday sun surrounded by terracotta terracing from which to sit and relax and soak up the rays of the sun. The location is central for most amenities, less than 20 minutes from the coast, golf courses, and water parks of Torre del Mar.

Changeover day
Saturday is the prefered changeover day, but other days may be considered subject to availability. Occupation of the property is after 4pm and vacation by 11am. For very early arrivals or late departures please advise at time of booking.

Outside
The villa is south facing with a delightful shaded veranda. The views are simply stunning from all around the property. The upper terrace has a planted area, with a wonderful old olive tree and traditional terracotta sun terracing surrounding the kidney shaped pool, with BBQ, and ample sun loungers. There is covered pergola with teak dining furniture for "al fresco" dining. The lower terrace is terracotta tiled, planted with young fruit trees, and a delightful oasis to sit with a good book away from the poolside activities.
Coast/Beach
Further south there is a beautiful stretch of coastline with cliffs and small sandy bays. Located just 20 mins drive is the delightful beach side town of Torre Del Mar with over four kms of sandy beaches lined with restaurants and bars. Nerja to the east, a 30 mins drive, boasts 16 kms of beaches with powdery sand and sparkling clear water. All major water sports are available here, including water skiing, scuba diving and sailing.
Golf
The nearest Golf Course to Competa is the newly opened Baviera Golf situated at Caleta de Velez. A lovely 18 hole course set in beautiful landscaped links and is open to non-members. It will take just 20 mins to drive to Baviera. Clubs, buggies and other equipment can be hired at very reasonable prices. Along the coast at Rincon de la Victoria is the 18 hole Anoreta Golf Course. Again, set in beautiful surroundings. This is a more mature course as it has been up and running for some 10 years now. It will take approx 30 mins to drive to Anoreta from Competa.
Skiing
Located just 90 mins drive, the Sol y Nieve Ski Resort in Andalucia brings you a ski area with more hours of sunshine than any other European Ski Resort. The majority of the slopes face north east so the snow stays longer providing better conditions throughout the season. There are now 79 runs covering 87 km, a improved Snowboard Park with half-pipe and areas where you can try off piste skiing.
Travel
The nearest airport is Malaga 60 mins drive away, car hire is recommended and there are plenty of agencies located at the terminal. From Malaga Airport a regular bus service runs to the central bus station in Malaga. From here a bus service runs to Competa with the following departure times:
On weekdays at 11.30am, 13.15pm and 18.30pm.
On Saturdays and public holidays at 13.15pm and 18.30pm.
On Sundays at 10.30am and 21.00pm.
Distances
To the north of Competa the wonderful city of Granada can be reached in 1.5 hrs. Sevilla is just under 3 hrs drive to the east. Malaga old town is 1 hrs drive and Nerja can be reached in 30 mins.
Further details
Competa, dating back to the Moors, and whose style is reflected in its winding streets and white-washed houses, has many excellent restaurants and bars. El Pilon, owned by English chef Christian and his Spanish wife Mari Lou, one of the best restaurants in the village. Excellent meat, fresh fish and vegetables. El Cortijo del Paco,
another excellent restaurant owned by Spanish chef Paco, on a par with el Pilon with excellent steaks, fish and rabo de torro - oxtail, and if you like fillet steak, try the Tornedo Rossini. There are two banks in the village and a cash machine, with several small supermarkets. A modern shopping mall is located in Velez Malaga with a huge Eroski Supermarket, Dunnes Dept Store as well as fashion shops, cinemas and a food court. Horse riding is available at Los Caballos Mosquin. There is a wealth of walking opportunities at all levels. The terrain ranges from fertile river valleys, relatively gentle lower hills, to the rugged high sierra up to 7,000 feet.
