This large village house, in Guajar Faraguit, with its beamed ceilings and spacious airy rooms, is detached and set in a small orchard. It has spectacular, uninterrupted views from the house and garden/pool area. Eschewing the usual plain Spanish interior design, the rooms are bright and cheerful, with lots of light and modern furnishings. It is near to all amenities - bar/restaurant, bakery, grocers, bank and 20 minutes from the Mediterranean coast. This is the perfect place to escape the pressures and demands of modern life, spending your precious free time in the most stunning part of Spain. The pace of life here is slow, with working mules still being an everyday sight. The setting is a subtropical valley with bananas, olives, mangoes, etc, growing in abundance. On the nearby coast (20 mins drive), lie the Spanish towns of Salobreña and Motril, with bars, shops, restaurants, etc. All visitors to this house have gone home suitably refereshed and invigorated.

Outside
The pool is 8.5m x 4.5m, in blue mosaic tile, and is bordered by our own mature trees, including lemon, orange, mandarin, avocado, fig and banana. Several patios and terraces are dotted around the house and garden, with a choice of sun or shade. There is a large patio area for outside dining, as well as a barbecue. The garden is the perfect place to enjoy the starry nights, listening to the crickets and frogs. There are also sun loungers, casual tables and outside chairs. There is a balcony leading off two of the upstairs bedrooms, with a small table and chairs, giving the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains and "castillejo" (a medieval settlement, approx. 3/4 hour walk from the house).

Coast/Beach
20 minutes drive from nearest beaches.

Golf
Only 20 mins away down on the coast there is a superbly set golf course, between Motril and Salobreña. Play golf with the sea to one side and the snow covered peaks of the Sierra Nevada to the other. The family members, who don’t feel like joining you playing golf, can sunbathe on the beach, take a dip in the sea or enjoy the restaurants and cafes of the golf club. Another golf course will open soon near Salobreña and yet another one half way to Granada.

Skiing
In winter you have the choice to spend a day on the beach or skiing in the Sierra Nevada or in fact you can do both on the very same day!! Only 1½ hour away in the Sierra Nevada you find Spain’s most modern ski resort, Europes´ski station with the most sun hours in winter. The high guarantee of snow, long and wide ski slopes (up to 75km), low prices and the very pleasant ambience make this a ski destination of international reputation.

Travel
Granada is the nearest airport (60km), has just opened to international flights and serves already 4 destinations in GB as well as 1 in France, Switzerland, Italy and Holland. Malaga has flights to just about all destinations in Europe. we can recommend car hire companies with very competitive prices.

Malaga: 1.5 hours
Almeria: 1.5 hours

Distances
40 minutes from the Alpujarran mountains, 50 minutes from the beautiful city of Granada, an hour from the Sierra Nevada, and 1 1/2 hours from Malaga.
