2 charming 200 year old cottages, recently refurbished, set in their own olive grove with spectacular views over Lake Vinuela, mountains and the sea. Each has its own pool, gardens, terrace, play area and decking. Sunbathe on the deck overlooking the lake or shade amongst the olive trees ideal for a lazy picnic or read. Lemon, orange and almond trees can be picked in season. Each cottage is private and they are available separately or can be rented together for larger groups or families(both child friendly) Only a few mins drive from Periana with local shops and typical Spanish restaurants. Less than one hour from Malaga airport. The larger town of Velez-Malaga or coastal resort of Torre del Mar are approx 25 mins drive away where there is a large shopping mall, restaurants, beach bars, golf course and plenty of nightlife. Horse riding, mountain biking, walking, fishing and golf are also available in the surrounding area. Skiing can be found in Sierra Nevada approx 1hr 45 min away.

Changeover day
Saturday to Saturday. Clients are asked not to arrive before 5pm on the arrival day as this gives the cleaner time to do her job. Clients must depart by 10am on the day of departure.

Open plan kitchen/dining room with fridge freezer, microwave, gas hob, electric oven, all kitchen utensils. Walk in pantry, iron and ironing board, dining table and chairs.
Cosy sitting room with wood burning stove, TV/DVD & sky with freeview channels (or bring your own sky card), Stereo/CD player.
2 double bedrooms: 1 with double bed and 1 twin. Both have built in wardrobes.
Bathroom with bath, shower over the bath, wash basin, toilet and bidet.
Babies: Cot, highchair, bouncy chair, travel steriliser, hand held blender all available on request.
Outside laundry room with washing machine. Bed linen and bath towels provided (please bring own pool towels)
Outside: Portable BBQ, outside gas heater, pool loungers, table, chairs, umbrella. Seating areas amongst the olive trees. Sandpit and swing for the little ones.

Large sitting room with original beamed ceiling, wood burning stove and ceiling fan. U-shaped seating area as well as double sofa bed that can be used for extra accommodation. TV/DVD + sky. Stereo/CD player.
3 bedrooms with built in wardrobes: 1 double with 4 poster bed, en-suite shower, toilet and basin. 1 twin with ceiling fan. The 3rd bedroom can be single or double and has a door to a terraced area.
Bathroom with bath, over the bath shower, toilet and wash basin.
Bedlinen and bath towels provided (please bring own pool towels).
Outside room with washing machine, dryer, iron and ironing board.
Cot, highchair, bouncy chair and steriliser available on request.
Outside: portable BBQ, pool loungers, table, chairs and umbrella. Roof Terrace with stunning mountain views, large patio, garden and decking area with lake views.

 

Notes on accommodation
Both properties are suitable for children. Cottage 1 has gates around the pool with fantastic gardens and olive grove for children to explore including a sandpit area and swing. Cottage 2 has fencing all around the pool and a large patio area, partly shaded. Ideal for putting young children to bed and eating alfresco! It also has a roof terrace where you get fabulous views of the surrounding mountain and lake. The stairs for this are gated again making it safer for children. The garden area has a childs playhouse, slide and sandpit. For the cooler months each cottage has a wood burning stove and mobile electric heaters are available. Car hire is essential.

Accessibility
Cottage 2 has a large flat patio area outside and is one storey inside. To two of the bedrooms there is just one step down.

Outside
Cottage 1: Private gated pool 7x4m overlooking the lake and leading down to a sunny decked area with amazing views. It has a lovely garden with seating areas amongst the olive trees and hammock as well as a dining area on the terrace, and sandpit and swing for little ones.
Cottage 2: Private fenced pool 6x4m very safe for children. A large flat terrace overlooking the pool, is ideal for sunbathing & al fresco dining. The garden and decking area have sunny and shady parts great for sitting and looking at the fabulous lake views, as well as a childs playhouse, slide, and sandpit. The roof terrace enables you to see the stunning mountains all around as well as lake and sea views.
Both are private and great for individual families or 2 groups wanting a joint holiday but some of their own space. Both superb for children, with lots of outside space for exploring. Cottage 2 is particularly fab for toddlers due to the fenced pool. Both ideal for putting kids to bed and dining outside.

Coast/Beach
The larger coastal resorts of Torre del Mar (25 mins drive) and Nerja (approx 35 mins drive) offer lovely beaches and water sports: scuba diving, snorkelling, canoeing. You will also find fantastic restaurants and nightlife. All along the coast there are many beaches including secluded and naturist. There is a water park in between Velez-Malaga and Torre del Mar, and go-karting, horse riding, paint balling and fishing are just a few of the many other activities you will find here.

Golf
Golf course 35 mins. An 18 hole course called Baviera Golf is situated 1m from Caleta de Velez, or Anoreta Golf, Rincon de la Victoria tel: 0034 952 404 000. Numerous others are available along the coast.

Skiing
La Sierra Nevada, Granada is 1hr 30 mins away.

Travel
Malaga Airport is less than 1 hr away. Granada Airport is approx 1.5 hrs away.
Car Hire is essential.

Distances
The village of Periana is a few mins drive, famous for its olive oil and peaches. Lake Vinuela is 5 min drive, can walk, bbq.
There are many other hillside villages to explore, ideal for walking, or just while away the afternoon at a local restaurant. The larger town of Velez-Malaga is 20 min drive. Here is a shopping mall with hypermarket, bowling and cinema.
The coast is 25 min drive away. Alhama de Granada is a 35 min drive and offers local restaurants, hot springs and stunning scenery.

Further details
Periana, a typical spanish village, has 2 banks with cash points. A supermarket and various other shops selling groceries. A butcher, fresh fish and bakeries. There is a doctors, dentist, chemist and post office. Each Wednesday a street market. There is also a variety of spanish bars and restaurants. Other resturants can be found in villages all around the lake.
5 min drive away there are picnic areas around the lake.

Whether you just want to relax by the pool or take up your favorite pastime of walking, fishing, mountain biking, horse riding, golf, water sports you are sure to find it in this beautiful and relaxing part of Andalucia.

Booking notes
Booking should be made directly with the owner. A 30%deposit is required to secure your booking. Cheques should be sent to the owners address in England. 1 week is allowed for it to arrive, if not the booking is lost. A breakage deposit of £100 is added to your final payment (due 30 days before your arrival) and will be returned within 10 working days after the property has been checked and no damage found. Short breaks may be available at short notice.

About the owner
Hi we currently live in Spain with our 2 little boys, aged 6 and 4 years. We have had the cottages for 5 years and have spent many happy holidays here since the boys were little. It is ideal for toddlers and children as they have so much outside space and freedom to run around. Earlier this year we decided to make a more permanent move and are all enjoying the more relaxed outside lifestyle.

Why the owner chose a home in this location
We love the area of Periana / Lake Vinuela as the scenery is stunning, it is very peaceful and you get a taste of real Spain. It is away from the crowds of the coast but only half an hour to the beach, so easily accessible whenever you wish to go. You can easily explore the both the Costa del Sol or the many stunning scenic drives in the mountains and villages of Andalucia. We enjoy the outside lifestyle and exploring many tapas bars in the hillside villages! as well as driving to the coast and relaxing on the beach.

Unique benefits of the property
The cottages are just a few minutes drive into the village of Periana and a few local restaurants and bars, so you can chill by the pool and then easily nip out for something to eat and drink. Children have a ball here, running around, swimming, climbing trees and generally playing outside. The pools are fenced (cottage 2) or gated (cottage 1) as safety by the pool is always an issue to us having little ones ourselves. The cottages also have a sandpit, swing and hammock to keep the children amused, cottage 2 has a slide and playhouse too.
